I was curious to see how many people actually put some work into there motor out there !!??!! My so called friends that drive Hondas and Suabrus etc. tell me that all of the Audi's they come up against are all SHOW AND NO GO !?!?
Well I used to be a Honda guy but I wanted to buy something different, that looked good and had motor potential !?!?
That's why I drive an Audi A4 1.8 .... now I have no looks on my car,(YET) but my mototr will kick the shit out of most of the cars I run into out here in the 818.
Good motor tuning some bolt-ons and I gutted a Super KO4 Turbo to make it spool faster and put out more boost !?!? YUMMY .........
I am tired of arguing with these VTEC, Hon-Dud drivers that people who drive Audi's are not just posers and that there more than a few of us who put it down on the street and no just in car shows ...........

dont worry... u will get over the hate in time.. I did.. Now i dont waste my time with dumbasses on the road... I've proved to meny hondas wrong.. and I've satificed my domanace over them... in time u will too... just laugf and say... Silly honda's (mind you, there are some that can kick ass.. but most of them can't)
for the most part, audi enthusiasts especially B6/b7 are more into show than go. There are plenty who aren't, but they are a minority. CMH on this forum has a 2000 A4 1.8t quattro built to 2038cc, running custom programming, big turbo (not sure which one is on the car now), full race tubular manifold, full race FMIC, etc etc.. He put down 377WHP to all 4 wheels. Again he is rare amoungst audi owners. Honda's are cheap, therefore more likely to get modified. The lower end hondas don't put down a whole lot of power so there are more people who modify them. Doesn't mean they aren't good cars.

There are alot of "all show no go" audis out there but what do you expect from a car that is in an above average price range.
There are quite a few crazy built Audis out there. CMH, Big Nipper, and Sparttan to name a few are all squeezing over 300 whp out of a 1.8 on their Audis. I know there are like 3 people just in the last couple months that have done full dahlback setups on their TTs.
Maybe your friends just aren't looking in the right places.
I own both Honda and Audi, in fact I have a lot of toys. Nothing special only new car we have is the 04 ultrasport 1.8t.
The last Audi we had I did a lot of stuff myself. I did a write up on making an intake for the 1.8ts that cost 25 bucks took only an hour and looked just like the EVO intake. I have had a lot of experience with hondas. I have a 95 accord coupe that I swapped an H22 (2.2vtec prelude) back in 99' before it was even common. We had to figure out all the wiring our selves. I installed crower cams and pretty much have the whole suspension aftermarket. I competed in SCCA with the car when I lived in vegas. The car came in second for the STS class. Those damn awd imprezas would kick my ass though. I also have a 95 S-10 and did some work on the motor and suspension. Not to much since I really could care less about modifying it. Does a good job of carying the four wheeler and my GSXR around.
I would assume that the majority of Audi owners prolly don't change their own oil. The car itself requires a good bit of money just to get the thing in the high 13's. A 92-95 civic hatch with a H22 price $2000, parts ~$500 will rip 13's all day long  reliably:bowdown: .
The Audi is a bitch to work on compared to my accord and almost as bad as the S-10. I can't imagine trying to do any major work on the B6 S4 in a garage.
I would have to say that Audi owners that do improvments themselves are rare but it seems like more because they converse on message boards. At work a few people drive Audis and you can tell they never even looked under the hood. But they bought the car for different reasons.
Some of us including me can't leave a damn thing stock. For instance I made an intake for my lawn mower, hollowed out the muffler, over-gaped the plugs and run Mobile 1 in it. My weed wacker Runs synthetic two stoke oil, removed spark arrestor, and over-gapped plug too. Some people ask WHY? I tell them my mower now puts out 5.5hp at the blade. What now?!?
My point is....I have no idea. just sharing thoughts.

When you are driving a 35k+ car, I'd imagine that you are a little more reluctant to do something that'll get it seized/wrecked/scratched than you would be if you were driving a used 13k Honda.

(Besides, most Audi drivers are posers. =) )

When you have a $40k car (in other words, really NICE Audis, like, oh, the ones that start with S), is there really ANY need to do anything further with it?

For the most part Paul's statement is on point, however, keep in mind the B6 platform is a 2002+ MY and as such, most rides are still under warranty. :read:
APR posted their B6 stage 3 kit is for sale and there are those that already are running it. There are the minority diy gearheads that have been working on the "go" and "big turbo" upgrades.
Now that "go" alternatives are gettin dialed in I think it is only a matter of time that the minority will become the majority. You know that those that put $$$ in "show" will do the same for da "go" imho.
:corn: Stay tuned, I expect during 05 you will see more B6's with "go." Most owners will prolly strive for a combo of both show and go. As far as respect, let your ride do the talkin/walkin!
Peace!

He's fine...saw him last night. He broke his pressure plate and was putting in a new one.

Well..........................yes a large portion of B6 owners probably won't mod, but a large portion of B5 owners aren't modding either. It depends on why they bought an Audi.
Me, well I am at the other end, just can't leave my damn cars alone! I had a chip for the S before it even arrived and after 2 months of ownership the coilovers went in and it ain't over yet!!! Even my old A4 only lasted a few weeks without being molested............
Sooooooooooo, send the haters etc my way! I'll take 'em all day :D
