Motoring: Audi unveils new lean, mean, grille machines
29 July 2004
How are Ulster people reacting to the big 'open-mouthed' grilles on new models such as the Peugeot 407 and the new Audi A6?
They are certainly more distinctive on the road but is this the look of the future or just a passing fad?
I am sure it was with some trepidation that Isaac Agnew Audi introduced the new face of the German prestige brand at recent ride and drive events in Ballymena, and at Stormont.
Richard Eakin, managing director Isaac Agnew Audi, says: "Everyone is very impressed with the new A6 and the new frontal grille has been really well received.
"The car has a lot of presence and its coupe styling makes the car very dynamic and stylish on the road.
"Not only does the car look well, it has to be driven to fully appreciate its capabilities.
"So far we have sold 45 new A6s, the best seller being the 3.0 litre TDi followed by the petrol 2.4 SE which can either be multitronic or manual."
Mind you, I know of at least one Audiphile who has snapped up one of the last of the old-look A6s rather than be a guinea pig for the new look.
Time, as always, will tell.
