So I have a little extra money and I'm gonna spend it on a chip. Can anybody recomend witch one? Is there somewhere I can take my car and have them install it right there or do I have to send in my ecu to the company That I buy it from? Plus, I'm still under warranty, is there any way to hide this from the dealership?I've researched on the net and it sounds like I should either go Revo or GIAC.

GIAC, Revo, and APR all have semi local dealers you can drive to that can flash load the program you want through your diagnostic port.

The tech at a dealership will know your chipped as soon as he drives the car. No matter what, they will no the car is making more power than it should.

I say GIAC or Autotech Q-chip. I'm running a Q-chip on my 2.0, and I love it. You will get WAY more out of it with the 1.8T than I do with my 2.slow. They can install it for you at there headquarters in San Juan Capistrano. They only way anyone will know you are chipped is if they drive your car, and realize its way quicker than the stock 1.8T

You can drive to GMG in Santa Ana and have GIAC or APR. With APR you can select between chipped and stock mode through cruise control, so if you set your car to stock mode before taking it to the dealer, they won't know even when driving.

I have APR and I like it a lot.

For APR, I've heard good things about ingolstadt west too.

For Revo, David @ Eurocode tuning is probably the man to see.

For GIAC, which is what I have, talk to Jeff Moss @ the torque factory

All the bigger chip programmers (APR/GIAC/REVO) are about equal. Short of APR and their cool control stalk switch thing, I think everyone has the same features now. Find a shop you can get good customer service from.

PS GIAC is the BEST chip! ;)

I also got GIAC through Jeff Moss.

I would recommend the newly revised GIAC X chip that recently came out.

Cool, I e-mailed Jeff Moss and I'm gonna set up and appointment with him. What did you guys pay for yours?

I remember paying around 600 but that was about 2 years ago when they would solder the chip into your ecu and all that. That should actually tell you something right there about how much I trust Moss since he was the guy with my ECU and a soldering iron.

I have no clue how my price compares to the new stuff though. I know now you can buy the little switch box to go back to stock and stuff too.

I say GIAC but trying to figure out where to get installation done myself. Seems like I find NEUSPEED everywhere but don't really care for it.

Try contacting Mike at MK AUTO ELITE

mcaad4@aol.com

He carries both the REVO and GIAC

REVO is a fully flashable software
GIAC is either way...

Both are great programs. Some say that REVO is the way to go. They say its smoother.

I dont know for sure. I got APR..... Its definatley not as smooth as I'd like it to be but STILL a great program.

I like Pringles, but others prefer Ruffles because they have ridges.

Its all about Salt and Vinegar chips. I don't think Pringles or Ruffles have that variety.
