Ok. Well, i wasnt expecting much since i really didnt care to watch it.

But here's my overall views of it. Dont watch it at the theatre. I think its a waste.

I thought the movie did an awesome job of keeping you tricked. But the trailers totally made it into something that it wasnt.

Dont want to give any details of the movie away, but i dont know man. 6th Sense was pretty good. Unbreakable was pretty good.

The Village definitely was very good at keeping you confused about whats going on, just like his other movies. But i think i was disappointed overall. The book version maybe was good, seems sorta like more of a novel story than a movie.

Post up if you got anymore comments.

after the 6th sense his movies left me feeling like i wasted part of my life, i like watching movies i can watch more than once and you cannot watch any of his movies more than once with the same feeling. i read the spoiler of the movie online last month so I know about the bullshit ending.

>>I would have preferred it was a twisted romance story and the supernatural was actually supernatural; not a Shyamalan "special", but his twist gimmick is getting old and he really needs to grow up as a director.<<

dude............ that movie was so crap!!. after i heard about the "monsters" i was just like. wow  and after the girl came out of the village i then said   -- i guess its an okay idea but damn i don't think they did a very good job of revealing it -- and still, the idea itself is not even that strong to base a whole movie on it.. i dunno.. its just so stupid to me i cna't evne put it in words... as i came out of the theatre everyone said "WTF WAS THAT?!?"

and bugzy why did you like unbreakable? i thought it was pretty bad too... i mean the ending was like  just left me with an "uh.. okay" and leftover feeling.

I was expecting it to be more of a mind f*ck but instead I was struggling to stay awake halfway through this film.

Can any one compare this to Manchurian Canidate yet? Anyone seen both?

The Manchurian Candidate's getting better reviews, though most critics appear to think it's a decent movie versus the original, which was brilliant (and its title made more sense).

Of course, in today's world one can say that the corporations are the enemy, versus the Soviet and Chinese during the Cold War, so the new film is appropriate for our times.

:wtf: ??

What I meant was, has any one on the boards seen both movies and therefore be able to give a good comparison of the movie's, not some random chinese and soviet bullshit.

I cant beleive you people didnt like this movie. Its built off raw emotion where it turns you around and around, he uses you to get all the suspense, rely's on you to decide what certain things are in a movie and just fucks with you. I think this is the way movies should be made, this was simply an awesome movie and i plan on seeing it again.

The whole idea behind what took place is amazing.

So..the Chinese aren't the villians in the new version? Then how do they justify the title?

The title is justified via naming the corporation "Manchurian Global".

Donnie, you can't ignore that unlike the 50s and 60s, where working for a big company was the ideal, in today's culture your average Joe resents the corporate logo: chains taking over mom and pop shops, the idea that they run the country, etc. This movie taps into that the same way the original tapped into the fear of communism.

the idea behind the movie was very good, the whole thing was a mindfuck. there were good shots in the movie, good storyline and crazy twists. i can see it not being on the top ten of peoples lists, but it didnt suck at all.

I saw both, but Manchurian Candidate was much more interesting and entertaining. The Village was too slow and had a dumb ending

i agree on certain points: yes the movie sucks. yes, don't watch it. however, the movie did nothing for me in terms of keeping me tricked...the director did everything he could short of outright telling you all the plot twists...2 minutes into the movie and I already knew the central plot twist...

Yep.

I don't see why he didn't just rename it. After all, when he remade Charade he called it The Truth About Charlie... only maybe not as idiotic a title as The Truth About Charlie.

He could have called it simply The Candidate for all I care.

The Village is just another PRIME example how ShamalamaDingDong can't tie up a decent ending to a film
I agree that this film gave away it's entire story in the first few minutes! The dialogue alone was very contrived and forced. Which says... False. The utensils on the table were not of a late 1800's era.
The story was weak
The concept was weak - more like a 45 minute high school play or an episode of the outer limits...But not the classic outer limits.

Avoid this film at all costs and to help you avoid the film... here's the ending(Highlight below).

It's not in the 1800's - The village is on a wildlife preserve owned by William Hurt. He wanted to avoid the sins of modern life. So he created this village. The monsters are the "elder's" who use the lore of the creatures to keep order in the village and keep them all sheltered from modern life.

BAH!

Alien Vs Predator was better in it's slathered cheese.

Now is this "REALLY" going to ruin a bad film for you?
