If you are doing this with a cable modem and a series of Dlink routers you will need a Dlink router and an Access point if you are trying to go wireless. If you need to be hard wired you will need to use the uplink port on one router and a standard port on the other Dlink.

What is the exact setup you are trying to achieve?

Are you making one as a primary router and the other as a switch/wireless AP?

Try connecting it this way:

Motorola modem>WAN port of primary router>A lan port from the primary router>LAN port 1 on secondary router.

But before connecting the secondary router.
Change the lan ip to 192.168.0.2
And disable the dhcp server.

It doesn't matter if your making it into a switch or wireless AP, the configuration is the same.

tried all that, didn't work, modem is wireless, just trying to split the line in 2 rooms. Ended up throwin a linksys switch between the dlink and the modem.
The motorla wireless modem is the bomb. 252 user capable, overkill but cool.

thanks for the help, d-link blows, customer service said "i have no idea call your ISP" the thing is i set up 3 linksys routers at work no problem, but d-link is just a headache.

and i don't know why you reply half the time...

its easy here i'll make it simple for you...

need 2 rooms with more than 1 computer in each wired up
would like to only have one wire between rooms
have 2 d-link routers don't want to buy more parts

what i didn't say was "please reply with unhelpful BS like madajb always does"

but like i said PROBLEM SOLVED...

one more thing, was this written because of you?

Now see, if you'd posted a coherent question in the first place, then I could have helped you last night and maybe saved you 5 minutes of on hold music.
Instead, you got to waste your time looking up yo-yo instructions.

Regardless, odds are you needed a crossover cable for one of the d-links.
