if i was to take a new m3 tranny....the 6 speed....could i put it to my e36?

is it possible?

or damn near impossible?

any thoughts?

or is there anyone out there who could make a 6 spd tranny for an e36 with the m3 ratios?

Just from doing some fast research online it looks like the E36 can go backwards to the E30 so I can't see why the E46 cant go back to an E36 but I am not a BMW expert.

I've matched up bell housings and they will work, however I never got around to the clutch, input shaft arangement, in reality its far more cost effective to spend money on an actual M3 than spending $8000 getting a proper box built and adapted so you can have a "6th" gear on a E36 325Is that is worth $8000, you dont need any more than the 5 that came with it, better money spent on a supercharger kit to obliterate most Corvettes. A friend of mine has a 98 328 that threw down 278HP at the wheels with a stock gear box.
