I took this at the National Surf League California Cup in Oceanside. Does anyone know who this guy is? I don't follow surfing so I have no idea......

I don't know much about digital cameras, just 35mm SLR. What kinda lense did you use? That's a pretty kick ass picture.

I used a Canon 20D with a 70-200 IS f/2.8L.

The zoom is at 200, the aperture is at 4.0, shutter is 1/2000.

I didn't have enought lens to shoot from the beach, so I moved onto the pier and shot over the edge.

The sun was coming from high and to the left, so I had to use the Shadows/Highlights tool in Photoshop to bring out the surfer's face. The only other adjustments are a very slight crop, levels, and Unsharp Mask.

i would think since socal has alot of lefties, its easier to earn going frontside as in this case. maybe? i dunno

i don't know, washington state has alot of lefties too, and i am regular footed
its all about comfort when standing on a board, one foot feels more controlled than the other (hard to explain)
