A few of us got talking at the last North County GTG and decided to set the date for another Hodges to kick off the summer. We figure more people will be out of school and back in town, so let's get together again!

What: Potluck, BBQ, and Fun
When: Saturday, June 18th
Time: Most people arrive around 11:00AM and stay all day

"hodges" as it it known on our wonderful lil site is a a bbq that happens at no particular frequency. there have been quite a few of these over the past few years. the original one was organized by manny et his family and basically went like this:

a bunch o' people show up

i cook
we all drink, laugh and be merry and do "wheelies"

it's a bbq with old friends and new. we usually have a volleyball game wherein we see the lack of hand-eye coordination that tony, lon, et al. possess....especially after a few drinks.

Also, we're doing a Julian run before the bbq starts (thread here (http://www.socaleuro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5628)) so come along for that too. Come down and spend the night Friday night, then come out and roll with us through the mountains on Saturday morning capped off by an afternoon of bbq, alcohol, and games.

Or, you could just come down for the afternoon portion (but your car is too badass to just let it go unused ;))

julian run eh? i dono...it sounds fun, but im already asken for a ticket, and knowing me, ill pop the clutch right infront of a cop, and get a fatty ticket...either that, or crash into someone, which would suck even more. But I have a couple of conflicts this coming weekend.


The biggest is this huge church conference which is a series of "talks and fellowships" from Friday night thru Sunday afternoon THIS weekend (not continuous but a set of 1-2 hour things)... I just rejoined the local church up here in San Ho-Sayy and "did brunch" with "the girls" yesterday and have commitments for prayer & Bible study already, so it's like really important to show face for a while... some of ya church fweaks may understand me.
"It's a Jesus thing ~ you wouldn't understand" or whatever the saying is.

And the DRIVE. Dayum it's 375 miles to West LA from here and then 150 more to SD. Ouchie for one weekend... :(

But I have a couple of conflicts this coming weekend.


The biggest is this huge church conference which is a series of "talks and fellowships" from Friday night thru Sunday afternoon THIS weekend (not continuous but a set of 1-2 hour things)... I just rejoined the local church up here in San Ho-Sayy and "did brunch" with "the girls" yesterday and have commitments for prayer & Bible study already, so it's like really important to show face for a while... some of ya church fweaks may understand me.
"It's a Jesus thing ~ you wouldn't understand" or whatever the saying is.

And the DRIVE. Dayum it's 375 miles to West LA from here and then 150 more to SD. Ouchie for one weekend... :(

Sooo yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm gonna probably pass it up on Hodges, despite my urge to throw it all out the window, pack up my rental SUV with 1,000 Jell-O-Shots and get everyone totally trashed! But you'll all have TTony TThe shoTTs masTTer onhand, hopefully with Susan, to introduce to everyone! And my winggirl, BoraGirl, to carry on the now-legendary-tradition.

4th of July? I'll make the hike down for that, seeing as it's a long weekend already.
There's so many friggin holidays at Yah00 (12 I think) that I bet it's a 4-day weekend for sure :D.....

2nd. i never go to these cyn or mountain runs with large groups because there is always undoubtedly someone that does something stupid or pushes their car or their abilities pas their limits...

funny, i've driven in cars on cyn runs with former indy-car and nascar drivers and they usually take it sooooooo easy but still manage a good time....the way cyn runs should be, i think :)

Had a lot of fun today. :tup: Was an enjoyable run up to Julian, no crazy stupidity involved (other than the Xterra driver that Richard was ready to go postal on, lol). The relocation ended up working out pretty well, even though we probably lost a few people because of it. Can't wait to see the pics.

Big props go to Manny and Tracy for finding a suitable location on such short notice and getting the word out. I appreciate the effort immensely. And, I'll take it as a lesson learned: this is the last time I attempt to plan 2 overlapping events for the same day. All in all though I think it worked out quite well.

Manny: as always, awesome job on the meats and the grillin! :tup: Like I told you earlier, the only reason to go to Hodges is for Manny's meat. ;)

The whole day was totally awesome. The run went pretty well, and like Dan said: no stupidity or major incidents. The random turkey in the road was interesting though. The bbq was an absolute blast. It was great to see most of you again, and meet some new people face-to-face.

Thanks to all for making the effort to come out and make this thing work. Everyone working together is what SCE is all about. I'm definitely ready for the next big event (which I hope is indoors because I got good and crispy today).

Now I just gotta go through the ~250 photos taken today with my camera and get them posted. I don't think that will happen because for the first time in 15 hours, I'm going to relax completely.
