This is where I go to have a ciggy break every day for almost a year...There is a designated place to have ciggy breaks but I like the emptyness about the place and a lil over a year ago I needed some serious alone time and found this quiet lil area out back of work. Been going here ever since.

they're too much like mine [which no one commented on either :p] .. i.e. not much really stands out. And the railing shots, so similar! [not that i care, just teasin - and i bet you didn't even see mine].
I do like the overall first shot, and the focus on the wall in the other stairwell pic .. but don't really get the feeling of 'empty' from any of the shots?
I suppose its because it holds meaning just for you, to me its just a blank building.
The story you had on the last one was enough to make anyone feel empty, without the picture :(

#1. Nice job of working catching both the light and the shadows, althogh the top step is a little overexposed. I know this spot means empty to you, but without the explination, it would mean "stairs that go to trees" to me. I'm not trying to sound mean, just honest. I think a shot of the same stairs with no background would do a better job of "empty".
#2 & #3, it's just a wall.
#4. A good depth-of-field exercise. Might have been better to have the rail a little sharper and keep the stairs out of focus.
#5. Again, it's something that bears a lot of meaning for you, but the picture doesn't do the best job of communicating that. The hardest part of taking a good picture is getting it to tell a story without having to write down a word.
