i did a while back ago.
it'd be heaven for you, sir.
here's the basic premise:
you show up, sign a waiver that says you won't sue, et cetera, they hand you the keys to your choice of bmw (last time they had a 740IL, 325I,330C, 330I, 540I (old body), a few of the 3's in wagon version and awd version...some where manual, some were auto.....
and then they give you a laminated mapquest sheet which you "follow"....for every mile driven, they donate $1 to the susan g. komen foundation...
you are entirely unsupervised in the car alone or with your passangers...what you do in the car (as long as you don't break/crash it) is uh...up to you
unfortunately, they did not have any of the M cars when i went.

I didn't know it was a nationwide tour thing. They go all over the country with the same cars. I just called to see if I could do it.... nope

i was in a 3 series and this other guy was in a 7 series....he kept revving on me on this one straight away...so we examined the 0-60 times on both cars. heh.

I did it here in Orange County a month ago. I drove a 325ci convert, Z4, and the 330i 6-speed w/the performance pkg. I wanted to drive the 645ci but you had to be 25+. I orignally signed up for the 530i w/SMG tranny but it was out for service. I think it was worth it, pretty fun. The route was 11 miles and they let you drive as many cars as you want.

z4 handles like a dream...of course get the 3.0 (knowing your driving style, you will benefit the most from that one)
the 645 would be nice but you gotta expect the lines to be LONG...the 7-series is surprisingly fun to drive at its limits

Well, because of the times involved, I signed up for the 745li and the 645. I'm going to swing by earlier and see if they have other cars available.

woah woah woah, where can i go about to get these cars in my hands?
FunkTron

yeah...best bet is to get there early.
they have you sign up for just 2 because they expect the large turnout...and they are trying to compensate for time.
if you stick around and let them know that you would like to try another....they will let you.
i mean....if not....just give them shit about "Isn't this for charity?!!?!? I'm just trying to do my part for breast cancer!!!!!" :D

Yeah,
I did this a few years ago, with an M Coupe, just loved it. I also got to rag out a 750il, not bad when it comes to playing with other people's toys.

Holy Crap, that was fun!
Too bad the course wasn't longer, it was only about 16mi.
Fortunately, the main twisty bit was a road I drive almost _every freakin' day_.
Do you know a 740Li will get a little unsettled when you enter a 35mph turn at 70ish. Stops like a beast in a straight line though.

I was aiming for straight up and down with the needles, but it's hard to not take your foot off the gas while trying to take a pictue in a $70,000 car you don't own.[1]

I did this about a month ago at Harloff BMW. I didn't realize there was a pre-determined route until I pulled the 330 back into the lot 23 miles later... :ha:
