How do you change the shift knob for the GTI? Is it screwed on? Do you need to buy a shift boot too?

Why dont you get sneaky and pull the boot up and find out???


It depends on the year as to whether it is a screw on or just a silde on. Many OEM shifters come with a new boot, many aftermarket do not.

take the boot out by pullin on it from the the back then turn it inside out theres a little clip that ur gonna have to pry off in order to get it off, but just look at it and ull be able to figure it out

what year? mine was screwed on mk3
