Drunk driver asks officer to arrest him
August 10, 2004 (VERNON, Vt.) — It was the cop who was pulled over -- by a drunk driver, no less.
Vernon, Vermont, Police Chief Ian McCollin, says he slowed down to take a look at a man edging toward a stop sign. McCollin says the man rolled down his window and made an astonishing request. The man said he was looking for a police officer to have himself arrested because he was drunk.
McCollin radioed for backup due to the unusual nature of the traffic stop.
The driver, identifying himself as Bryan Condo, said he was also driving on a suspended license.
McCollin says Condo blew four times the legal limit on an alcohol breath test. He says Condo was a perfect gentleman as he was arrested for second-offense D-U-I and driving with a suspended license. McCollin adds that getting pulled over by a drunk is one for the books.
