The Jaguar X-TYPE Estate featuring the 'Sports Collection' body styling package makes its debut at the Canary Wharf Motorshow (13 June, 2005).

Introduced last year on the Saloon, and now also available on the S-TYPE, the new 'Sports Collection' body styling package, adds yet another exciting dimension to the X-TYPE range, providing a stylish differentiation for the X-TYPE Estate.

The enhancements give the X-TYPE Estate a more athletic, sportier appearance with a new tailgate spoiler and rear valance; unique to the Estate.

Similar to the saloon body styling package, and in keeping with the new front-end section, the design team has added side sill appliqués and upper and lower black mesh grilles. A new front valance has also been added to ensure the lowered, more squat and purposeful stance is noticeable from all angles.

The high mounted tailgate spoiler and lowered ramp angles have improved aerodynamic performance, whilst the dynamic lines give the car a sportier more aggressive, feel and attitude. The 'Sports Collection' X-TYPE Estate also gets a more pronounced rear boot spoiler as well as new exhaust tailpipe finishers and stylish, new 7.5" x 18" Proteus alloy wheels.

Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum said: "The visual impact of adding the body styling pack is dramatic; it refreshes the look of the car, giving people another reason to consider buying an X-TYPE Estate.

He continued: "Body-styling packages must be designed as an integral part of the car. The rationale was to emphasise the stance of the X-TYPE Estate by lowering the visual aspect.

The enhancements we have made for the 'Sports Collection' give the car a more aggressive, purposeful look. The whole attitude and look of the car has been lowered giving the impression it is hugging the road."

Depending on model, the full 'Sports Collection' package can be ordered for all existing X-TYPE Diesel and petrol estate vehicles – or retro-fitted – for around £1,700 for the saloon and £1,800 for the estate excluding wheels.

THE S-TYPE RANGE

S-TYPE buyers wanting a more racy exterior appearance can now choose to specify Jaguar's exclusive range of body exterior styling products, known as the 'Sports Collection', which makes its debut at the Canary Wharf Motor Show next week (13 June, 2005).

With a 'Sports Collection' body styling package already available on the X-TYPE, this new addition to the range provides a stylish differentiation for the S-TYPE and adds yet another exciting dimension to Jaguar's portfolio of body accessories.

Reflecting the dynamic qualities the S-TYPE offers, the body styling package gives the car a more modern, aggressive, and sportier appearance. Designed to reflect and accentuate the dynamic qualities and sleek, strong profile that the S-TYPE offers, the body styling package uses the cars existing flowing lines to project its athleticism and performance. This ultimately makes a dramatic but subtle impression on both passengers and passers-by.

Black front upper and lower grilles and a rear lower black mesh grille emphasise the S-TYPE's sporty appearance. Lowered side sill appliqués and new front and rear lower valances ensure the more squat, purposeful stance is noticeable from all angles.

The 'Sports Collection' S-TYPE also gets a new front valance with chrome bezels around the fog lights, a more pronounced rear boot lid spoiler as well as new exhaust tailpipe finishers, giving the car an aura of self-confidence. Stylish, new 18" Proteus alloy wheels complete the look.

As with all of the 'Sports Collection' body styling packages, engineering integrity has been maintained and the components have been developed for ease of installation onto vehicles and all parts utilise current fixings.

Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum said: "We wanted to design a range of accessory products to visually emphasise the stance and presence of the S-TYPE. The enhancements we have made for the S-TYPE body styling package give the car a more aggressive and purposeful look by accentuating the sleek, strong profile of the S-TYPE and combining both classical characteristics of the car with new Jaguar design aspects."

Available from September, the full 'Sports Collection' package can be ordered for all existing S-TYPE petrol and diesel saloon vehicles – or retro-fitted – for £2,000 excluding wheels.

I think that Jag has some great styling points and fast cars I am still just not sold on the reliability of them yet. I can remeber in the 80's when everyone was pulling the Jag motors and putting in Chevy 350's instead and that thought still steers me clear of the Jag.

Gotta say that wagon is pretty sweet.

Better than its competitors? Doubt it. But wouldn't mind rocking it, if only to be different.
