Looking for the most bang for your buck hp mods. I was looking into cold air intake, but their aren't any for a 2003. ECU mods seem like a good value. Will that void my warranty? Also, are their any good tuning garages in the San Diego area?

Any suggestions?

There aren't any cold air intakes for a 2003? What did they change from 2002?

A chip is always the best bang for your buck.

After that Exhaust, Samco TIP, Intake, FMIC are all good. If you want better handling, slightly bigger sways and coilovers or springs/shocks are great investments. There are a wide variety of aftermarket brake systems that are great for if you want to track your car. I guess really everything depends on what you want to do with your car. Most people do the chip and the suspension first so that the car loses that big wheel-fender gap and they gain a whole bunch of power.

Everything could potentially void your warranty on whatever it can affect. Since your ECU controls the whole car, it could potentially void the warranty on alot of the car.

Happy Modding!

get a 3" cone element from K&N, and put it on after infront of the maf. you'll probably need to find some sort of brace to hold it up, or i can just sell you my carbon fiber covered paint can...

chip tuning, i highly suggest jeff moss he is a distributor for GIAC www.torque-factory.com (http://www.torque-factory.com/) he has tuned both of my TT's, my 01 and the 04 i have now. we are also about to embark on a new venture with DelRio Power out of Mexico City, with a 500hp big turbo upgrade

and if you have any questions about short shifters.. i've bought three of them, and have various parts of all of them installed. the dieselgeek race is good, and easy to install it's a linkage type ss, meaning that it goes right on the tranny and effects the length of shift by adjusting the cables. the b&m is great, but not easy to install, because it replaces the stock shifter itself. and finally, the ecstuning SS is awesome, so short you'll go right through neutral! it is also a linkage type short shifter.. and my advice to you if you are going to go with any ONE of these, i'd say the DG:Race, just because of it's simplicity and price. and if you are going to go with two of these, definitely the B&M as your inside the cabin mod... but, if you are going to go with the two SS' then you will absolutely have to install the linkage type first, as you will be able to adjust it properly with the stock shifter arm... because once you install the B&M, it becomes very difficult to adjust the linkage..

what color is your tourist trophy?

For the most part I have been finding Injen CAIs and they all say 99-02. I'm into the clean stock look. Just looking for some discreet mods to help with the low end and increase hp. I'm looking at the APR chip...says that its undetectable to dealer VAG machines.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm looking for more discreet mods b/c I'm worried about voiding the warranty I have through 2009. Is the K&N filter charger worthwhile? I've been looking at the APR chip...says its undetecale to dealer VAG machines and a friend has one on his M3 that he's happy with.

My TT is Black on Black, with the grey faux suede trim

Thanks for your help.

No chip is undetectable. They will know as soon as they drive the car unless you switch to stock mode religiously. Most dealerships won't mess with you over a chip anyway.

I would hope that a dealer would not be driving my car other than around the dealer's lot.

They actually test drive them quite a bit depending on what you came in for. They'll put a few miles on the clock to diagnose problems or check repairs.

Like I said though, most dealers are okay with it unless you do something like blow a major powertrain component or something. The law says that they can only void your warranty if there is a direct link between what you did and what broke. Sometimes they try to screw with you anyway but thats life with a modded car.

Chip that thing already! You are missing out on what the car should have felt like from the factory.

injen doesnt make intakes for the 225, only for the 180, or at least, not since the last time i checked.

the best looking (stock look) imo is this guy from evolution motorsports.... and it's probably the one i should have went with originally.
