so i just installed my CAI yesterday and everything went fine (i think) but the battery would only fit if it was slanted a bit.. i don't mean like completely sideways.. maybe at like a 15 degree slant... i tested it out and everything seems to be fine.. is it an issue having my battery tilted like that? it is completely secure in there so it's not gonna fall out.. i even tried to pull it out and couldn't.... any advice would help... oh and i was wondering what that piece was that you install in your CAI to keep it from sucking water into your engine... i know someone mentioned it a while ago but i can't remember... tia

The thing to keep you from sucking in water is the AEM CAI Bypass. You have to cut the CAI to install it.
The battery slant does not sound normal. I'm surprised that a CAI would cause your battery to need to be tilted to fit. Sounds like a poor design if thats the case.

i had to take the back surrounding of the battery box off just to get it in... i pm'd the guy who sold it to me to see if he had the same issues but no response yet.... i think the piping is just too big ya know? oh and thanks for the info....

Unless the battery is a sealed design (Optima, etc.), no, you do not want it slanted. If the vents are blocked, acid could spill through it (good likelyhood), or worse, hydrogen builds up pressure and blows through the casing (not as common, but possible).

i just got an AEM CAI but havent put in in yet for the same reason. i cant see how i'm going to install it with the current battery, i am now looking for a smaller battery and i will probibly cut the battery holder casing.
let me know how you do yours, and i will post pics when i get mine in

i was gonna cut the casing as well... just don't have the tools at my disposal :( i'll post my pics once i do the same... i love it though... i haven't had my car dynoed but i think that not having the cai installed with my apr stage II kit was killing my hp.... to be honest it feels like a 30-40 whp gain with it on... i know the cai is not responsible for that alone so i think that my stock airbox was kind of "choking" my turbo setup.... definitely worth installing it right away!!!

I have an AEM and you don't have to tilt the battery at all. Once you remove all the extra intake plastic it fit perfect around the side of it

My CAI that I fab'ed up fits just fine, with the battery complete as if a CAI isnt even there. The biggest problem I had was removing some plastic vent that directs air to the stock air box. And the CAI is in 3"...

you do have to remove everything from the battery to install it, but after that everything should go in fine. If it is made by a company, that test fitted it, they wouldnt want you cutting anything.
