My car is making a really loud metal on metal fluttering noise (belts, exhaust, I dont know??) but my engine light came on yesterday, the car doesnt seem to be lagging performance wise all that much, but the noise coming from the engine/tranny midsection behind my left front wheel area. The noise is embarrassing, anybody wanna help? Of course compensation in the form of food/beverage will be provided :corn:

 I've got an A4 1.8T QM 01.5 and it sounded like my engine was falling apart, until I found out that my timing chain was breaking into small metal pieces.
Do you have problems starting the car? Can you hear a nice grinding noise when you start? If so your damn timing chain broke. Hope you have an extended Warranty.

I had the car hoisted up and the mechanics and I were able to relate the noise coming strictly from the tranny...in a couple thousand miles I plan on doing the TB with the ECS Tuning kit, also bugzy helped me and we were able to come up with these codes using his Vag:

16891 - Idle Control System RPM Higher than Expected.
P0507 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean
P1136 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I checked the archives on audiworld and some of the people that experienced the fault code 16891 had a bad MAF, so we will wait and see about that one...
