Agreed
This is only going to lead to screwing families for the benefit of developers. Greed is the only motivating factor I can see in this.

More money in the hands of those who already have it. This is terrible. And I can see San Diego using "eminent domain" in similar cases to help with the tourist industry... justification would be the same, taxation would help fix our bankrupt city. Poo I tell you, poo.

The only good part about this decision is that the Supremes explicitly pointed out that states can enact restrictions on towns.
So, in theory, this could become a Proposition issue.
Unfortunately for those folk in CT, there is no such method in that state.
And I'll bet the town starts the bulldozers rolling as quick as it can.

A man's home is his castle?
Unless a man with more money wants a bigger castle and needs the land to build a shopping center. In that case I guess a man's home is his quickimart.

What a terrific expansion of eminant domain ... no longer for government use, but for businesses as well
Talk about a staple component of fascism ... government and business are now united in means and goals, the people be damned.
Except real fascism is more fun ... here, we can't even rally against an evil enemy ... because the evil entity (i.e. Walmart) is teamed up with the Feds.
If a corporation ever tried to push me and my family out of our home, undercutting fair market value, you can be damn sure I'd make the corporation pay for my loss with some losses of their own.
Is nothing sacred? Just the almighty dollar I guess.

The poor Roosevelts (Republican Teddy and Democrat Franklin alike), to watch as all their work goes to pot.
I like how they say it will revitilize communities. How will forcing people out of thier homes, putting up a shopping center, help a community?
I own my house and the only reason I would ever leave is under my own free will. I will guard it at gunpoint untill I was hauled off in handcuffs by a court order if they tried that shit with me. Like an episode of "The A Team"!
Im telling you, with the religious right in office and a canditate being screened for '08, its only a matter of time before we enter another "dark ages" with illegal abortions, no gay rights, land snatching, anti patriotisim laws, then knocking on our doors and demanding our non-christian religious belongings and books on art.

Oh, they would. It's been done before.

This decision has little to do with the right or left(and certainly nothing to do with religon), since the entire "liberal" wing of the Supremes also voted in the majority.

Agreed
Left or Right, they all agree when there are contributions and campaign dollars involved.
