I have finally been able to locate the loud metal noise coming from under my car, it is coming from my transmission, I checked both Hoehn and Miramar and they all charge 95 an hour for labor, I know there is something wrong with my car because everytime I get on the gas 1) a really loud metal on metal noise appears 2) when I slow down it seems that my transmission has a hard time changing to a lower gear, in fact I hear the engine revs for awhile before the car actually shifts...long story short, anyone know where I can take my car to a good, cheaper than 95 an hour labor shop? I checked La Jolla Auto tech and they advised me to go to the dealership, also this is my second transmission ( my first tranny blew at 30K) so I have used this tranny for the past 32K miles, miramar installed the tranny back in 2003 but they told me that the warranty on it is no good because they installed it over a year ago, should I check with AoA about this problem, has anyone else had this type of problem? Ok enough ranting...BTW..big props to Lon for clearing my codes and helping me with my check engine light, he is an asset to the Audi/VW community.

UPDATE: I opened a case with AoA and I took the car to Hoehn Audi, thus far Hoehn has been awesome...they are so worth the 20 minute drive from La Jolla. As of right now the Tranny is out of the car because all the noise was internal and they are running a diagnosis on it, its gonna cost 400 bucks as of now, but my service supervisor told me even though the car is not under warranty I have a 90% chance that AoA will pay the bill for the repairs...I will keep you all posted

I'm glad everything is going well with your car, but didn't the people at Miramar Audi treat you like sh*t. Those people down there seem like they don't want to fix anyone's car unless its brand new. Although I get a damn Honda from Hoehn Audi, the guys there are great and the service is good.
Just my thoughts.
Sweet. I love a happy ending.

UPDATE: AoA is conducting an investigation on the work that was performed on my car. It does involve two dealers in San Diego. I will post the scenario and outcome when the dust clears..but my advice for anyone that has an issue with an audi or requires work to take it to Hoehn Audi...

That is good news! My dad has been bringing his Audi's there for quite some time now!

FINAL UPDATE: Hoehn Audi rocks..I picked up my car today..the total bill was $2,000, the amount that I had to pay was $10.00 for the courtesy car expense..needless to say Hoehn and AoA took care of the rest and I am a happy camper...I cant believe how stable, solid and quiet my car is now, I can actually here my exhaust now thanks to no more noise coming from the tranny(my flexplate was gouged and warped because it was banging into my starting plate because some parts/bolts were missing and/or stripped, also my tranny to submount bolts were stripped and my tranny mounts had to be replaced, also there was something that had to do with my intermediate plate..this is all greek to me, so Im sure technical audiphiles would know what I am talking about. Miramar did my tranny replacement while metro already dealt with the issue of my flexplate, I guess they did not install it properly...I had to give all my documentation/service receipts to Hoehn and now my car is completely fixed and free of charge...woohoooooooo!!!!

This is truly awesome to hear...
I've always had good luck at Miramar Audi and VW service, though, both with a 98 A4 and 2002 VW Cabrio... also getting parts for my 90 has been fruitful....
BUT, i work off of palomar airport in carlsbad so hoehn's not far away at all!
Glad to know you have options, and glad to know you've been taken care of.
