Anyone else have a PS2 that is DRE'ing all over the place ? Any fixes you've found ? I tried to one where you open the PS2 and adjust the laser lense angle, but... to no avail. Anyone else know of a fix ... preferably OTHER than buying a new PS2 ?

If GTA:SA comes out and mine's not working, I'll just break down and buy another one I suppose... if I have a job by then :) or maybe even if I don't...

Drop it off at Sony. Chances are it just needs a real good cleaning.

When they call to ok the cleaning, say you have no cash for now and you'll ge a old of them next week.

Then when they call again in a week or so, say to just have them ship it to you because you just can't pay.

Hopefully they will have wen ahead and cleaned it without your permission and can't charge you.

It has worked for some  .

Good luck.

i dont even know where to drop it off around here with sony. I have a vaio laptop and a vaio desktop that could use being dropped off too at some point but i dont know where :)

I think i'll just get a new one and figure some good swap scenario for later

we do have an xbox too, but i'm a ps2 fan as well... althought i'll probably be getting a crystal xbox sometime in the future as well for my personal entertainment :)

i had the same problem couple of years ago...I was told by EB to come in and purchase the 30 dollar replacement insurance and i turned in my dead PS2 for a brand new one immediately. No questions ask(I also incidently broke the seal to try to adjust the laser thingy to fix it myself but EB didnt care when they took my dead PS2)

ive been lucky so far with mine for a few years, maybey just spend $99 on a used one rather than ship and fix, I do like the ins idea though.

I get best buy warranties on everything now :) but I got the ps2 years back at a walmart in Scottsdale AZ...

I'm thinking of getting a new one and then exchanging this one back via a warranty somewhere... Who knows.
