I am interested in purchasing an intake for my 1.8t GTI (2004). I was wondering if I could get opinions on the AEM cold air intake. Also, I was wondering what the price range is and where I could purchase it. Also, if you guys have any other recommendations or opinions on other intakes i wouldn't mind. Thank you!

Yes, AEM is very nice, where to buy it, I have no idea.

Intake is an intake is an intake. Get a GHL and save yourself a few bucks.

Or, if you're not chipped, save your money for that.

I got my AEM on a couple weeks ago, and love it, easy install/fit, great sound, but the BOV scares people away from racing, i tell them its stock BOV, but they wont listen to me, LOL. I had an STI that wouldnt race me... WTF

as far as where to get it, i got mine from summit, $200 or so, free shipping, and got it in about 2 days.

He probably didn't want to waste his gas. If it were me in the STI, I would have given you the "push off" and waved you along.

There is no CARB legal CAI instake for VW's model year 2003+.

Check AEM's site and you will see it only goes up to 2002 model year. Unless they finally paid to have them CARBed since last time i checked.

Correction, looks like AEM is legal as of 2004 model years. Looks like i need to sell my Neuspeed and go AEM for CARB.

I personally like AutoTechs intake.

Go in, you can probally get it for like $200 total.

We have specials on most of the intakes mentioned in this thread starting at $139.95! GHL, Neuspeed, Autotech, and AEM are all available. Please contact via PM and let us know which you'd be interested in.

I believe there was a dyno comparision in Eurotuner a few months ago where seven of the top intakes were tested. I need to see if I can find those tests here somewhere.
