it doesn't surprise me one bit....they need to go back to the 10 year 100,000 miles warranty if they ever want me to buy a new one. the quality is and has been shit for a very long time

The report is for the MkV, it's just misrepresented by the year.

As for VW, they're making a lot of changes.

VW's Bernhard wants to launch program to save 7 bln eur over 3-4 yrs (http://uk.biz.yahoo.com/050623/323/flv4x.html)
VW Scandal to 'Sweeten' Works Union Leaders (http://motortrend.com/features/news/112_news69/)
VW executive offers to resign in bribes scandal (http://www.expatica.com/source/site_article.asp?subchannel_id=52&story_id=21790&name=VW+executive+offers+to+resign+in+bribes+scand al)
VW's U.S. dealers need more than pep talk from top (http://www.detnews.com/2005/insiders/0506/08/C01-206170.htm)

The key to this is that Bernhard is brand new and cleaning house. We'll see if he has any effect.
