Well I need a new set of tires. Any suggestions? I need the tire to handle well in wet and dry conditions. I'm also hoping to avoid the 800 dollar price tag of the Michellin Pilots I've got now.

Toyo T1S (great dry/wet traction, not the cheapest tire, not the best treadwear)
Toyo Proxy 4 (Decent dry/wet traction, cheaper than T1s)
Falken Azenis ST115
Falken FK-451

Goodyear F1 GS D3 great dry/wet traction not a cheap tire

<~~MARIO (not pia)

well, stay away from falken zeix...they are shit in a bucket...

kumhos are cheap and good for an all-season, all-around tire...

another very underrated tire is the continental contisport...should be somewhere in the low to mid $100's/tire...the slk 350's i drove around this week had 'em...good tires, very predictable and relatively sticky.

i've also heard good things about avon but have never driven on them.

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm leaning toward some Kumho KH11's in 225 45 17. The reviews I've read so far are encouraging. Especially since our weather is a little different up where I live (it'll snow a little, but the roads are usually plowed).

Yeah, the Kumho MX's flame pattern sidewalls are just about the only thing I can call bling on my car. :D

On a practical note, I haven't seen my ASR light blink on more than, oh, three times in the last year I've had the tires (and just this morning I definitely gave it the old college try on an off ramp curve). Of course, my only comparison were the Michelins that came stock with the car... and those I could get the ASR blinking easily with a quick blip on the accelerator.

I got some NT450s, pretty wild tread pattern, more so that the latest NT555s. I'm not sure if that tire is offered in 225/45/17 though, but it's a great tire.

How much were you looking to spend for just tires Harry?

if you got snow/cold weather, be careful of performance tires ... id look into all-season performance

ContiExtreme are good all-season

Hopefully 500 or less.

And I was thinking about the weather issue, Bugzy, but I figured, eh, they plow the roads and if it gets to crazy, I'll call in sick. lol

500 or less, Kumho's will most certainly fit in there. Falken FK-451s are around that. Hankook can be done for that pretty easily. For a good all season high performance tire, you're gonna pay a little more. I think the top two are the Conti's and the Pilot Sport A/S and possibly that new kumho tire you suggested, kuh11?? Anyways, 500 will fetch some decent tires.
