Me and audiracer hit up www.K1speed.com for some laps around the track.

Was awesome. Much better karts and track than Speed Circuit for pretty much the same price. The electric karts are soooo much faster.

We thought maybe to setup a larger event.

yeah, that place rawks! the carts are a lot faster then speed circuit, and being electric, they are far more responsive. the track is bigger too. we definitely need to get a gtg going for k1!

are they actually faster or do they just take off faster?

we hit some gocarts in thailand that were electric and they had a ton of bottom end and seemed hella fast until we went to the gas ones that had less bottom end but topped out around 60mph

My boy is in real good with Ben Ma "The Owner of K1" anyway let me know the date and I will try to get us a discounted rate or maybe get the speeds turned up. The carts are only set at level 4 of 8. They can go much, much faster. Maybe we can get a big turn out and really get the word out. Ben wants to get as much exposure as possible for his place. Anyway let me know what you want to do or at least the date so I can try to hook it up.

ed, the carts ARE faster. speed circuits carts are around 30-35mph whereas the carts at k1 were originally set for almost 50mph, but i believe have been turned down a little from there. they still pull a lot more. the bruising on my sides from the G's prove it since we never got that much speed at miramar. the track is also about 400ft longer i believe but the laptimes are similar to miramar. we definitely need to get a gtg going. maybe even do a grand prix??

Yeah... my laptimes at K1 were almost the same as Miramar even with the longer track so that right there says its faster overall.

I think its mostly the torque from the electric motors that accounts for it. The guy told us the cars were limited around 35mph but the acceleration was noticable. Also the size of the karts and batteries and such probably makes the drivers weight less of a factor.

Its kinda wierd, they have a remote control and can turn off your karts or even just slow them down if they need to. So if you are coming in to the pits, you might have the accelerator floor but you're barely moving.
