So searching for the MAF I'm giving to Sergio for his 2.0 I realized, I have alot of these damn things.

3 are here at the condo + 1 at the parents house and 1 in the car. Some are failed and others don't work with the ECU. Whats funny is stock cars don't seem to mind the bad ones as much as modified cars do. Guess thats just how it goes.

Got any 2.0 MAFs for sale? :D The sensor is the same as the VR6, I just swap it out.

The GTI eats them like candy. It's gotten better since I added the oil catch can, but it still sucks. Oil drips right down the S/C inlet pipe and on the MAF.

I had posted a brand new 2.0 MAF for sale awhile back for 50 bucks... thats 30 bucks less than I paid for it. No one wanted it so I'm giving it to Sergio just so someone uses it.

You have to watch out with some of the MAFs when they say they work in other cars. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Like my car does great with VR6 MAFs but it doesn't like the 2.0 MAF even though some people swear by them. So many people use that 2.0 MAF element now that the price went up on them. On the flip side, so many 1.8 MAFs are failing that they are now offereing remanufactured ones for about 200 bucks less than a new one.

Alans old VR6 MAF worked great in my car until the element went bad on that one too. I don't know what causes them to die but I've tried diffent airfilters and all that and none seem to keep the MAF from going bad.

I'm thinking that the burnoff cycle doesn't work correctly, for some reason. In our case, I know the cause, but there's no excuse for stock cars to go through MAFs like crazy. It's not rocket science. Lots of other cars use Bosch MAFs and don't have these problems.
