Have you been having a problem with oil temps? Good job, especially if you did that solo.

I was under the impression that an oil cooler on a 1.8T was potentially harmful since it kept the oil too cool. Did I hear wrong?

You want the oil to reach a certain temp to help burn off any water that condenses in the engine. 212* F will do it. Keep in mind the temp of the oil at the block is a lot hotter than in the pan where the oil temp sensor is. Also I'm running a thermostat which opens fully @ 180*. Oil gets to 200 no problem with normal driving. The goal is simply to keep the oil temps below 230-240 in the harshes driving conditions.
