So I have this wireless netgear router. (NCTTRNL, you have the same one) There are two computers that should be on the internet. I have Verizon DSL. It worked for about a week, then one day I came home and my computer (the main one) and the other would not pull up anything on the internet (basic error screen when you try to go to a site on IE and there is no connection). I turned everything off on my computer and then it worked fine when I restarted. The problem is it wont let the other computer connect to the Internet. I see that there is a wireless signal and the connection shows "good" but when you try to go to a site, it acts like there is no connection to the Internet

Any Ideas

Turn off both machines, pull the power from the router, wait 10 secs, plug it back in, turn machines back on, surf for pr0n.

You know I have the same problem with the verizon DSL at Susan's sisters office. I cannot for the life of me get the thing to work with any of the routers I have. I can plug it into a plain old switch or a router and the computer that worked originally works just fine but none of the others will.

Verizon DSL just really sucks ass and sometimes you just need to leave the router plugged in for awhile so their systems can magically find it and lease it an IP. Its really shitty. They have the same issues at their home too.

You think I should just go w/cable or maybe run a cable to the other computer?

A cable modem is going to net you much faster speeds in the end but if you don't want to change your setup the DSL will suffice. The issue I had with Verizon (Yahoo DSL) was that my router would not stay connected and always got booted by the host DHCP server so I was always losing connection. On your wireless router can the 2 computers still see each other? or do they lose all Ip functionality?

Just curious if you are cloning the MAC address in the router configuration?

I never set up a network connection between the two, but the main computer (one actually connected to the router is still on the Internet and the second computer (wireless one) says there is a good connection, but when you try to connect to the internet, no go.

Foomanchu gave me some ideas to try, so when I get home tonight I'll see if they help.
