To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888/382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. Thanks for the reminder. Forgot to register my cell phone number after I switched providers and got a new number.

Adding your cell phone to the Do Not Call is never a bad idea, but cell numbers are not "being released" to telemarketers.
In fact, in almost every circumstance, telemarketing to a cell phone is against federal law.

We just got a new house number and I answered 3 bs calls today when I got home, only my immediate family has this damn number. Any way to block this number??

Seems Verizon is fighting for customers (http://news.vzw.com/news/2005/09/pr2005-08-31.html) ... I'm not sure what the other carriers are doing, I honestly haven't heard anything about their efforts.
