Hmm i've takened eclipses, v6 mustangs, civics, integras, etc etc...
i've lost to eclipses (turboed), pretty much anything else. A4 not = fast straight line car... minus A LOT of $$$. Don't waste your money trying to race anyone. Not worth the gas. Set your car up right and it'll do well in autox/road course.

Beat Corvettes and lost to Civics (...well, not lately). It's really all over the place. If you want to make your car fast (of which my opinion of "fast" is always changing), start saving.

Five-hundo for a chip and it at least won't be so bad anymore.

Beat a CIVIC EX in my AE 86 with a bad exhaust leak and bad TPS sensor.

Just the other day, I pulled up next to this kid in this low slung red jobby. Couldn't tell what kind of ride he was pimpin', it didn't have any badges. He gave the "what's up?" look and slowly started creeping forward, as if he were trying to engage some imaginary pre-stage lights. I'd tried to resist the urge, but my foolish pride got the better of me. A quick check for cops......all clear. Seat belt.....on. A/C.....off. Radio.....off, all the better to hear the four cylinders of fury hidden beneath my hood. The light goes green and I mash down on the go pedal like I hate it. The kid stuck close through second, but I opened up once I hit third. He was trying valiently, I could see his limbs flailing, trying somehow to generate velocity. His eyes were focused and his face red, but he just couldn't keep up. I managed to get a quick snapshot of him as a drove away laughing.

Tom is a schoolyard bully.

He probably raced the kid for pinks and then took the kids wheels and lunchmoney.

I raced a squirrel (or possibly a chipmunk) once, and won.

It was an odd sort of race ... the punk tried to race horizontally across the road, but he was no match for the 2 liters of fury (nor its inferior braking power)!

That was a good kill.

The best part is when they cry.

Its not the car, its the driver. I have taken zo6's, lotus elises, RADICAL's (first time owner/driver), s4's, evo 8's, blah blah blah. Realistically i know that those cars far out perform mine, i just have more seat time then the other driver. Like a wise man once said

It takes money to drive a fast car, it takes skill to drive a car fast.

The only street race I have been in was against a cutie in an '04 A6 2.7t S-line.
I lost.

I underestimated the 35 extra lb/ft of torque from that motor, even though it's a bigger car.
Fortunately, the ledy in question is my wife, so I own the fraster car, even if she doesn't let me drive the faster car.

Took an Evo8 in Angeles Crest in my girl's '86 GTI. He didn't have a clue what happened, every corner i got closer. You're all right, its never just the car that wins but the experience of a driver and the road.

I beat a Lamborghini Murcielago (sp?) by 3 seconds with my 20AE GTI at autocross last year.
It still had paper plates, so I give him/her credit for not only using the car for what it was intended for, but for learning the car shortly after purchase. There is not too many places in SoCAl to abuse a V12 supercar.

once i raced a maserati in my jeep and beat it.

(granted the dude stalled once coming out of first and then couldn't find second if his life depended on it).

well, as a general rule of thumb: if it exists, i've driven it (most italian and british supercars notwithstanding)....comes with he territory, i guess....if you are looking to beat cars in straight line racing, i've come to the conclusion that nothing beats American V8's....at least not straight out of the factory.

speaking of drag racing, here is a hint of what is to come of my old bug in the near future, I caught this a Nick's burger at the DKP meet. Don't know who's it is, but its like he stole my blue print! Its probably around 500HP and 1500 lbs
