wawanesa. definitely recommend them.
:stupid:
i've been working in the collision center business for 3 years now. wawanesa is without a doubt the best one out there.
Mercury is second best.
stay away from Farmers and any other odd ball company..

eep. they usually prefer someone to have no more than 1point, but its worth a shot. wawanesa (http://www.wawanesa.com/) here is their site.

wawanesa rocks. make sure you designate your GTi as your primary vehicle, and you'll get a hell of a deal!!! ;)

My whole family has Wawanesa. But since Wawanesa doesn't insure training cars(my dad is a driving instructor), his insurance for his training car is State Farm. No complaints from me and my family from either company yet.

What's the deal with wawanesa? What makes them different from AAA, 21st, Allstate, etc?
I've never heard of them before.

you have to have a good record to initially sign up. therefore, prices are much cheaper. their service is really good as well.

I have state farm and have no complaints yet. The times I've had to call them, they've always been really on top of things.
I use them for my homeowners and all that stuff too so multipolicy discount really helps.

Actually they are from the Midwest, but do have an office out here. They also have some interesting ways of streamlining their underwriting, which saves on premiums also.
I deal w/almost every carrier that does auto/commercial auto on a daily basis. I would definitely try them first. If not, try Coast National (may also be under Bristol West) They are a smaller, but up and coming company. I use them and I had 2 points also.
Ditto on the Farmers discouragement. These guys treat every car like it's a 90 geo metro. I actually had to explain why they couldn't put the base parts on a GLI about a week ago. To them a jetta's a jetta. I would avoid Infinity and Progressive also.

I applied to Wawanesa once. I qualified, but the premium was ridiculous and I balked. Still with GEICO, which from all accounts is good, and my being with them these past four years has dropped my premium down to less than $100/mo. on a 100/300 plan.
Apparently, the absolute best (and this is coming from the woman, who worked for an injury claims law firm) is Tokyo Marine (Wawanesa being one of the ones ranked second). Excellent pricing and customer service, even when dealing with lawyers. But figuring out how to even apply and get qualified appears to be the hard part.

if you're eligible (which i doubt you are) usaa is awesome, i've had them since i joined the military and they've helped me through a stolen car, lots of tickets, and two accidents

I thought about USAA, but dealing with everything through the mail makes me nervous...
Linus - Wawanesa has awesome pricing! I like how they give you the breakdown on all the deductibles and coverages, etc. We've got the Infiniti, Audi and GTi with the highest coverage ($100K/$300K?) and the lowest deductibles ($100 all around) for $2700/year. We have condo insurance through them too, which Rob can attest, is really cheap and lowers our car premiums.

I'm not sure I'd call Farmers Insurance an oddball company. They're one of the largest companies in the U.S.
Now, those Canadians, they're definitely oddball!

.
They're Canadians in disguise.
They only sell to California and Oregon in the states, and their home office in the U.S. is in San Diego.

I have Allstate and have no complaints.
I'm with Progressive. Since I just moved to SoCal from Canada and I didn't have an "insurance history" in the US, I thought I was going to get bent over. My monthly premiums actually turned out to be CHEAPER than what I'm paying on the EXACT same car back in Canada. I know there are plenty of variables to consider when comparing the two, but I was pleasantly surprised.
- 29 years old
- 13 years driving experience
- 1 ticket 10mph over back in 1999
- 0 accidents
- 2 mile commute to work
- 1998 Jetta GLX
- 100/300 plan
$90/month

Not for me they didn't. They quoted $2400/yr. for my one single car at 100/300.

I have Mercury and been with them since 94'.
First at fault claim and they made a couple of suggestions where to take it and i ended up at one of thier recommended shops. The shop performed an awe some job they stroked out the check before i ever dropped off the car. No hassels at all.
For my 00' Jetta VR6 GLXand my wifes new Quest SE van we pay about $1700.00 per year with $500. deductible and that is with me driving over 100K a year and two speeding tickets. They get my vote . There are alot of companies out there but i have heard of alot of horror stories and how they get hasseled getting their car fixed.

USAA if you qualify is the best and cheapest. My mom used to work there otherwise you have to be in the military or a veteran I think. No insurane company can touch their rates or atleast the ones they give us.

I am in my second tour of duty with the WA. First time they really stunk up the joint.
Insure car. 1 year later car gets stolen. Uh oh, they have no record of the car. I though have receipts. Car gets covered ( total loss ). Purchase 2 new cars, insure with the WA and they send me a policy listing the STOLEN car. Not once but twice. I ditch them.
The insurance company I was using ( STATE FARM ) treated me great and I had no issues with them during my claims processes. They did however force my agent to retire due to age.
Well, my nephews who happen to work at Wawanesa talked me back to going with them. I pay a little more with a little less coverage but I can go smack the nephews around if things go wrong :D

What was really funny is that nobody could touch the rates I was getting at STATE FARM for the coverage I was getting. I was maxed out on everything ( home owners need all they can get ). I did shop around to find lower rates but no such luck. This of course was on the PUBLIC market.

Different insurance companies differ with different folks and their cars. I say do your homework and find the best deal, cuz none of us can help you out. Good luck.
