Kind of funny when you think about it. It will cost me 70 dollars to fill my gas tank.

I guess I will be asking for Gas cards for Christmas this year. :D

We buy oil from out of the country , so this gas inflation is only the Gobment...lol raising cost to make profit. It has nothing at all to do with the Hurricane. I was speaking to a Gas Engineer this morning. he also told me to only by gas in the early morning or late night. An never to pumop when they have the big rig to refill gas. The pipes get expanded by that and the heat and you actually pay more for less.

Just over $6/gal last I spoke to my relatives, down from $6.50/gal last week.

$5 bucks a gallon, huh? I remember i filled up my ride on 100 octane gas when it was like $5 bucks a gallon. I guess those were the good ol' days when it costed me nearly $60 bucks for a full tank of 100 octane. Now... i don't even wanna think about it.

I think it's it's to move to Venezuela, The cheapest gas is in Venezuela with $0.12/gallon. But they’ve got crazy inflation over there. $0.12 to them is like $1,000 to us.

well I am talking with Kia and Honda right now...I'm trading in the GLX and the Neon on whoever can give us the better deal on 2 new cars. I'm gonna go base model Civic or Spectra EX. I'm leaning on the Kia cause there is more hp, better warranty as well.....

Doesn't the Neon get decent gas mileage Manny? I know the VR isn't though.

Why not a TDI? Or a hybrid?

A Kia is a good idea, actually.

something ive noticed here in los angeles. the weekend traffic and some weekday traffic has really died down since the gas price increase. i dont make a whole lot of money, but id be willing to pay even more for a greater reduction in traffic. different strokes for different folks... i guess...

I drive a semi and presently the company is averaging 3.19 a gallon for diesel my truck uses 80 gallons a day thats nearly $500.00 every other day thats up from $340.00 six to nine months ago. The company has had two 10% increases in thier rates this year so far and if the price of diesel continues to go up so will our rates causing the cost of home and general construction to go up (we supply cement to all the redi-mix plants in so-cal). Any question follow the rates for a yard of concrete i can tell you that the price has tripled in a year and a half.

This doest even consider all the other facets of our lives that are fed by industries that use trucks to obtain or deliver their products.

I make almost $80 grand a year but i am no better off than i was 8 years ago earning two thirds of that. Cost of living is rising and i am truly and profoundly concerned about the welfare of the average guy to make a reasonable living and afford to live here in southern California.

I thought Neons got crap mileage anyway? Well under 30. Those are 4-cyl but pretty big ones.

My mom's civic (1.6 DOHC non-vtec) gets about 35mpg I guess, pretty good
I consider anything under 30 to be bad.

My Golf is rated at 24/30, not sure what I actually get (never fill it up or calculate, except long trips), but I know I make it about 350 miles on about 13 gallons (SD to Kingman). That's 27mpg ... highway too (but 75mph). Unacceptable.

But of course, that's why there's TDIs ... for non-Californians anyway.

I love the hooptie... I'm rockin' 32 MPG!!!

the thing is that california is self-suficcient on gas, so we shouldn't have teh inflation that we are seeing.

We see a rise in prices "in case of a disaster", then another rise when the disaster actually happens. Double jeopardy?

and our refineries have been "at capacity" for almost 30 years now. We haven't built a new one in those years. Yet, the supply of gasoline has steadily been on the rise. So when will our refinieries ACTUALLY be tapped out, and not just on a superficial "cap" ?

My WRX gets pretty good gas milage as long as I keep my foot off the floor. So far my best tank was about 27 mpg. I do miss my 88 GTI. I could get to Escondido on an 1/8th of a tank.

He said Premium ... :read:

And at current prices I would estimate he has about a 16-gallon tank.

doesnt look like prices are going to do any more soaring...but just shows that the gas companies are doing this shit just to raise prices...kinda like price gouging.....hmmm...government intervention?...i think not!
