Finally got my car tinted and decided to go top of the line! I didn't want to go too dark, so I went with 35% all around. Ceramic has 99.5% UV blocking and 53% heat blocking iirc... thats better than the darkest traditional tint on the market.
It's Formula One "Pinnacle" Series Ceramic Tint (Huper is the only other manufacturer I believe). I was told by other tinting places that it was originally available in industrial or residentual applications. Recently (this year or last?) it was made available for autos. Not cheap stuff. Cost about twice as much as metallic tint. I was quoted $160 for metallic and $330 for ceramic.
The difference is that you don't get the radio/cell reception problems from metallic paints. It has .5% greater UV protection (whoopteedoo!). The selling point is that, much like metallic, it doesn't fade like dyed tints, and has the greatest heat reduction properties.
