...but I think it might need some work?

:D
In the lower lot of my apartment complex (in background).
Some sort of safety demo I guess ... but why did they have to use a Vanagon :(
I think the front grille is still mostly intact, I might try to jack it tonight before the tow truck halls this thing off to its final doom.

Snapped all these when I was running late, so didn't bother making them pretty.

And one last local Vanagon, this one is for sale and looks like its in good shape ... but $3900 ... some day ....

and a westy at that....what a waste, they should have used a crappy dodge caravan,

As far as the Vanagon.............I like them too but they are horridly unreliable and expensive to own, air cooled or water cooled, aircoolies drop valve seats, and wasserboxers eat heads and gaskets, fuel injection problems, all the lines get brittle from the heat, and sometimes they turn into a Carbeque when the fuel lines go, and they are slow, REALLY slow........and as far as parts..take your best guess at the price, double it, add $100 and your close. No to shatter your dreams, just a little vision into your vanagon journey. As for me, I had a 66 typeII camper, that was REALLY SLOW.......

If you are hooked on the vanagon Idea, get an old diesel westy and do a 1.8 8V GTI motor swap as you can still get parts to do it, I've even seen a 1.8T swap, and Martin Schnider of MSDS has a double cab with a 383 small block in it!

and don't forget the WRX Vanagon ... apparently the Subaru transmissions bolt right up.
