So I threw a code in my 05 GLI 1.8T and have no clue exactly what is is. I am trying to read the codes but an at a loss. The actual code was

"17608 boost pressure control valve mechanical malfunction P1200-35-10 intermittent"

I looked at Bently Publishers to read more into it but is just confused me a little more.

http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/vw/vw.dtc.table.htm?stickyEmail=&ticket=none

The way I read it is...........

(P) Powertrain (1) Manufacturer codes for additional emission system function (2) air/fuel (10) Intake valves for cylinder shut-off Short to B+.

I can't seem to find a P1235 Any clues? Or am I just reading this all wrong?

From the Bentley CD:
P1200 17608
Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249- mechanical malfunction
- Check recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249- Page 01-94 , output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)

Looks like something is up with your N249 valve.
Instructions here (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1363448) if you want to bypass it.

I'm telling you... its the little grey valve with three hoses on it under your intake manifold to the drivers side of the dipstick tube.

Thats the N249.

You can bypass it, thats what I did. All it is for is to open the diverter when the manifold is not a vacuum. normally, your DV will run off manifold pressure but if you're quick off-throttle then the n249 will open the DV real fast before the manifold has time to reach vacuum. I suspect it may open for overboost protection and limp mode as well.

Why are you looking for a P1235 code? It's P1200.

Anyhow, that's the diverter valve. Check your DV.

Oh, it's the N249. Had to be one of them. ;)

I got that code a lot alongside with the DV code. Something to do with bypassing the N249, using a boostvalve, an N75-J and a reversedForge DV.

On that note. It has not done it again. Do you think the turbo boosted to quick and made the ECU think it was going to over boost? I have heard that this we can't get an electronic boost controler. So if this is possible then it could have been the Waste gate Flutter opening trying to dump the boost pressure?

Without it doing it again... its hard to know what it is.

I would say wait and see if it does it again. If it says you have an intermittent problem with the n249 you could always replace it. I think its like 50 bucks. I would just wait and check it with the vag again next week and see if the code is back.
