I am a MAC user, so Safari and Mozilla are my choices.
Only use IE when forced to...

I use it most of the time. The standard at work is IE though.

Remember when the site was only IE-compliant and Firebird/Firefox rendered the pages all wonky?
Heh.

It is nice to be able to post in a box that is semi-centered.

My IE just crapped out on me, crashes within a few minutes of opening it ... so I got Firefox, wish I had sooner - so much better than IE. Pages even load quicker.

Is it really worth switching? If my IE works fine and dandy, is tere any advantage to switching?

Probably not. I do like IE, but IE has a lot more potential for pop ups and adware hacks.
Since i started using Firefox keep in mind, the minute i open IE, it opens some weird pop up. Same machine with firefox, ive been very pleased that it blocks 100% of pop ups so far.
We'll just say, if you have any issues with spyware or pop ups, try firefox. Hell, you can use both on the same computer anyways.

There's no disadvantage, that's for sure! I only use IE when I have to go to a MS page. So far that's been it.

The disadvantage is Firefox doesn't do active X but, since firefox is so widely used, most sites are using something else that is compatible by now. In a corporate environment, IE still has some advantages as the incumbent technology but Firefox is definately at the lead in the recent browser wars.

There is a way you can get Firefox to use ActiveX. But not sure why you'd want to in the first place ;)

OK. I know enough about computers to get around, but isn't active-X the source of a lot of problems in terms of spyware, hijackers, worms, and other malicious crap?

One downside I noticed with FF is that when I'm copying a webpage, and pasting it into Front page, FF only copies text. IE for example copies all the layout and picture links. SO when I paste into Frontpage, it looks perfect with IE.
Otherwise I love Firefox.

Yes Active-X is one of the ways spyware and other malicious crap is spready around. However, MS has improved the Active-X implementation in IE and made it a lot less silent and prompts you to run ANYTHING. So that should cut down on a number of the "run-by install" of random Active-X controls.
When used correctly, Active-X is pretty cool and quite flexible. But as with anything, there are those who abuse its power and we all have to pay.

Very True. But of course general end users will click YES or Continue to anything that pops up.

Watch out with the 1.0 preview... it seems to have some issues with some popular extensions. They still seem to function but it reports they are incompatible so I don't know what is up.

Usually, it's just because the developer defined a maxVersion less than 1.0.
