Well, I talked to Michael at Pure Motorsport and they're going to do my suspension, probably next weekend, I was just curious though; which if any sway bars would help the most with my car? And what size? TIA.

28mm rear sway
You have your choices in companies though: Neuspeed, H&R, Autotech, etc. Most people I know, myself included, run the Neuspeed.

Definitely the rear sway bar like creanium said. I went with neuspeed but their are a lot of good brands

I'm not sure if you're planning on having Mike install the sway bar when he does the rest of the suspension, but the install really isn't all that hard either on any of them. You could easily get it done in an hour, if not quicker.

I'm going to have to wait on it, my funds decided to not cooperate with my "needs", so I'll pick up the sway bar later on, thanks for the help.

H&R or Neuspeed definitely. What suspension did you go with?

Autotech's rear swaybars are awsome as well. Very light in weight and strong. Their brackets are made from extruded aluminum, a very nice setup. If you are running H&R coilovers, you need not to worry about the bar getting in the way of the adjustment allen bolt. I highly recommend it. The only negative factor would be having to drill two holes on the rear beam to mount the swaybar. But other than that, its a high quality product.

Hotchkis finally has their new bars available for the GTI. It's a front/rear sway set.
It's hollow and light like the Autotech, no drilling required, best of both worlds.

I went with Koni Sport shocks (http://www.purems.com/products/description.php?II=169&CA=183&PA=7) and H&R Sport springs (http://www.purems.com/products/description.php?II=115&CA=160&PA=7).

I have these, and they are very nice
Much lighter than the Neuspeed

Snap! Didn't know these were out. Definitely rock the H-Sports.
Hope you like the suspension so far, Jimmy. I know I have fun with mine.

H-Sport is defniitely the top notch brand for swaybars for Audi/VW
i highly recommed H-sport products ...

The Key word is Set. I only need a Rear Sway. I really don't want to mess with the front Sway Bar again.
EDIT: Also The set is only for a 5 speed.

Didn't think it mattered if it 5 speed, 6 speed or automatic. Neuspeed only sell their bars depending on engine but that is really just the 25mm and 28mm difference

It does matter on the front Sway Bar. There is a difference between 5 and 6 speed.
The H sport comes in a set. I don't need a Set I only need a Rear.
So I must order something different from Mike than the H-Sport.
On that not I have heard that H-Sport is working on a set for the 6 speed but Don't know how long that will be.

Oh ok. Was not aware of that. Surprised they will only sell them as a set though.

This is just my opinion...but it looks to me that a member was dealing with Mike from HTTP://WWW.PUREMS.COM and was looking for info on some other gear to buy for his ride. Mike posted a reply as did others...
I'm thinking the TACKY is, your reply seems like your trying to sell a product to him whilst he is already dealing with Mike. Hope this helps.....

No, that's actually not what I was doing. My post was moreso for anyone else that might be reading the thread. It's not uncommon for someone who might be in the market for a sway bar to see the title of the thread and click on it. My offer was moreso for those people and not specifically the thread starter. If that kind of posting is against the rules, then I sincerely apologize. Offending anyone, making anyone angry, or being "tacky" was the last thing I was trying to accomplish with my post. I'm pretty sure our sale is a pretty good one on a pretty reputible sway bar kit. That was my only motivation - nothing else. Sorry if I pissed anyone off.

but lets be honest here ... there's nothing wrong with going for front and rears from H-Sport ...
I'm sure the rear only works for some people, but for performance, there's a reason why there is a f/r kit ...
H-sport is one of the top names in swaybars for VW's ... and i can tell you, if they sell it in a kit, there's a reason behind it
all the cars ive ever dealt with, usually want you to upgrade both
just imagine VW designers ... they have front and rear swaybars ... and then you decide to just upgrade the rear ... and leave the front ... seems to me, that would throw off the balance
now if you want that rear end to come around more ... sure, upgrade rear only ... but for a more natural balanced handling, its ideal to match the front and rears

Trust me I understand the purpose of the kit. But if you recall about 3 months ago I had the ABD kit. I installed both front and rear but when it came to the drilling to put the rear swaybar on I hallowed out one of the holes. so the mounts would shift a little and make a poping sound. So All I need is a rear sway. I really don't want to drop the subframe again and deal with the front sway. That is why I am looking for just a rear.
And to be honest I believe I would buy the H-Sport kit and do it all over again but there is a problem with the front sway not fitting on a 6 Speed. So I must have a mismatched set.

Actually, just upgrading the rear does balance the handling. If you go with the Nuespeed, then you can adjust for what works well for you. To be honest, I don't think you could go too stiff in the rear of a MKIV. I ran both of my MKIV(granted they were GTIs) with and without rear sways. Without the rear sway it was a serious pusher. With the sway it was very nuetral:tup:
Just speaking from my personal experience...

The 28mm Neuspeed made a huge difference in my understeer problem going away. I think I have a nuetral handling car now rather than one you have to work hard around the corners.
