Not that I would doubt the veracity of some anonymous /. poster... =)
It's fun concept (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/769493.cms) though.

And when that particular module doesn't work and the outsourcing company's involvement has long since ended, and their documentation is nowhere near complete due to the need for expediency at the time of development, say hello to a world of hurt.
Don't get me wrong, there's room for some form of outsourcing -- but not to the point where all you have are project managers at home base.
I'm also biased since I was laid off four years ago and saw the code get outsourced to India... and a year later, laughed as the company went down in flames.

I think you missed the concept.
The guy is outsourcing himself.
That is, he gets hired by company A, claims he is telecommuting, then hires some Indian to do the actual work. He pays the Indian 12k and pockets 48k for doing essentially nothing but passing it along to Company A.
Then he goes out and gets a real 9-5 programming gig with company B.

I guess I was thinking of it in terms of Company A, which remains screwed.
