ENCINITAS – A 53-year-old man died after apparently being struck by a red Ferrari early last night, and sheriff's deputies were searching for the car that left the scene.
The incident happened about 6:45 p.m. on Santa Fe Drive near Devonshire Drive.
The car was described as a 2001 red Ferrari. It was going westbound on Santa Fe Drive as it left the scene, officials said.
The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of his family.

How can anyone tell what a 2001 Ferrari looks like? Coulda been a 1980, or a 2003 or a...........:rolleyes:

Very true. One report said an "older" red Ferrari.
Being a European car enthusiast site I figured I'd post this since some of our members are in the Ferrari circles and might know of a car with suspicious front end damage.

maybe from paint samples...ie a color that was only offered in 2001 or something very unique to 2001 model-year ferraris.
like my green a4 paint that was only available in 96, 97.
