View Full Version : Smog Check / Need Advice!

So I need to get my car smogged this weekend, and this is my first time doing so, i have a cone filter for my intake is that ok or will i need to find a OEM air box (by the way the car is a 97 Jetta GLX, with 100K miles) and i have a custom magnaflow catback exhaust system with a res. will that be ok to have. There are prob pretty dumb question but i just had no idea! THANKS GUYS.......AND GALS!

You will need a C.A.R.B. sticker on the intake...exhaust should be fine if the cat is still there....good luck

Drive around to get the engine warm before taking it. I mean proper warm... Though, if the visual inspection takes a long time, it wouldn't be of much use. It couldnt harm to have everything that was sitting cleared out for a nice accurate reading of your exhaust chemicals:D

thats for obd1 cars right? so id have to do the same for my 94 bimmer too correct?

You can drive around all you want, but, if you have a vacuum leak, or your car isn't tuned right...your smog results will be through the roof! Ever heard of a gross polluter?
