so i finally got the codes cleared on my car:

P0171 - system too lean
P0411 - secondary air injection system incorrect

for the lean part i was gonna try either cleaning my fuel injectors or replacing them any thoughts?

and the second part i'm lost any words of advice are well appreciated

you have a vaccum leak, probably in the lines that lead to the changeover valve.

nice to have a couple VW techs around ;)

Its hard to tell exactly without looking at it, but the looking at both faults together tells you that it is running lean (getting extra unmetered air) and the secondary air fault says that there is a problem with that system, I belive incorrect flow detection is 411 its hard to diagnose it correctly without a vaccum guage/pump and looking at it, do a visual check of the lines and see if they are brittle and broken in places, if so replace them with the soft silcone lines, they wear better with heat. Report what you find

Amazing, I get the same codes and its been about 2 months with them and still have not found the problem. This weakend am replacing my O2 sensors and hopefully that will do it. But am almost positive I have a leak too, please if you correct this post up solution.
Thanks.

i had the same problems as well recently. It was the main vacuum line to the intake manifold and I needed a new MAF sensor. I got the vacuum hose for $50 and teh MAF sensor for $80

you need some more diag before you throw sensors at it, remember the post cat sensor just measures cat efficency, and doesn't control mixture.

if you're experiancing boost problems, with those codes put a vaccum guage/pump on your BV or swap it with a friends

yeah. I was on "limp mode" for the whole summer.. didnt really care to solve the CEL problem till a week ago!

My codes were: system running lean "Bank 1 system". misfires in cylinders 1 & 2.

so i checked what hoses i could and didn't see any brittle ones at all.... by chance is this hose not located in the engine bay?
