View Full Version : Commonwealth VW/Audi
Just wanted to give these guys props for taking care of all the complaints plus the 20k service they did for my car........I had some creaking in my sunroof when going over bumps, tail light out, my windshield wiper fluid hoses came off (prolly didn't reconnect them right after we put on the front spoiler) but they fixed that, checked everything, they ordered me a new radio cause a little spot on my radio was peeling, then the passenger seat handle that lifts the seat up and down was peeling also, they took care of it.......and did it all in one day. No hassles......mad props go out to those guys. They didn't even give crap about the way my car looks.   I've always taken my vw and audi there and never had any problems with them. So I just thought i would share a good story for a change, instead of hearing horror stories from other stealerships.......

I wasn't too impress with their salesman. The guy wouldn't let me test drive an A4 because they don't have the color I want. I ask him to give me another sales person he said they are all busy. I walked in to the sales manager's office and ask for someone else instead.

That's your first problem....just deal with the fleet manager, that's what i did, no hassles and got the best possible deal.

I used to use them for my services and now that I work in Irvine again I'll be back again. They've always been really good to work with.

Not really, during that time I haven't decided if I want an Audi. Was considering Mini Cooper S and Lexus IS300. I wouldn't talk to a fleet manager until I'm ready to lay $$ down. I just want to test drive the car and any salesman would do.
I've got my car at McKenna with a great sales person who is active in AudiWorld.com.... their service dept is a different story however.
I've bought 2 cars from Commonwealth. I've had mixed experiences with them since 1998. They've improved through the years though. I was surprised when they replaced my turbo under warranty in 2000.
I'm kind of soft when it comes to having my way with service though. My wife does a better job in getting repairs for free from them :)

I'm not sure about Commonwealth service. While the rep I use is good (David), I think in general they have issues. For example, my Passat just got a new turbo under warranty for oil consumption issues. The first 2,000 miles with the new turbo there was no oil usage, but then it used at least a quart over the next 1,000 miles. I took it in and they took the engine apart as per the recent bulletin about the "sludging" problem. That notice specifically says to use only 502 spec oil, in other words synthetic. They said that they found no sludge, put everything back together, and marked the level and position of the filter. I have to take it back in 1,000 miles to check for oil consumption.
The kicker? They filled the engine with regular dino oil, not the oil spec'd out by VW in the bulletin.
If synthetic is called out by VW now, why put in dino oil? If the consumption problem is fixed using dino oil, what about with synthetic and its better flowing characteristics?
Hmmmm.
