Green lantern has to be one of the weakest premises for a hero. I mean, C’mon, even you could be a Green Lantern (no offense) all you need is a ring. And then the whole thing with the Yellow not being effected, the big green fist that punches, the green hornet mask… DC has a few good hero’s but GL is not one of them.

Green Lantern has an excellent premise: you are only as strong as your will.

"zany comedy version a la THE MASK."
There is no way to interpret that and have it come out a good movie...

well Paul, by that criteria, Jack Black has every right to wear the (Lame) Green Lantern ring - cmon, green lantern? why not make it the brown flashlight?

I would rather see a faithful rendering with Hal Jordan versus a farce of a movie.

With Green Lantern II: The Spectre to follow?

Hal Jordan?
Is he even still the GL?
GL has as much chance of getting a good, true to origin story as the Cap' does (w/ plastic prosthetic ears).
It aint gonna happen.
They'd cast a 2nd tier baldwin brother and throw Guy in for chick appeal. Forget it.
JB is gonna make a shiload of $ and the core GL fans are all gonna hate it.
I'll pay $10.

hal jordan will be THE GL again by the end of summer, they are supposed to kill off kyle and Hal is giving up the Spectre mantle. so all will be well again, plus ron marz is writing GL again. as for the movie........ Linus who would you like to see as hal if they actually went the right way with the movie? honestly i would rather see a booster gold movie than a movie with jack black.

A Booster Gold and Blue Beetle starring Jack Black and some other fool wouldn't be a bad idea for a comic book farce.
As for a Hal Jordan GL... hmm. Not sure... can't think of any young up and coming but not yet famous folks... you would have to go the Superman route, famous actor to play the villain, unknown to play GL. A serious GL movie would be hard to pull off in the first place. Alan_One may be full of derision for the GL character, but he's right in that a movie version just won't work.

Karma.
DC scored with Superman and Batman while Marvel had two, three Captain Americas, a Dolph Lundgren Punisher, and any number of other silly 80s attempts at glory.
By the by, the next horrible DC-adapted movie will be Constantine.

Even the latest Batman venture will spill. The Batman franchise is stained and will take A LOT to clean up.
Superman - the Latest Venture.... Or should I say... the longest running Pre-Production joke in the History of cinema? big Turd in the works.
The Marvel Franchise hit troubled waters in the 80's due to lack of technology. Being more or less a universe of Mutants does not translate well via wires and rear projection!
Hellboy, DarkHorse, was lucky... as was League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... relying upon technology to float the silly stories.
One of the better Comic films has been Blade. It was a simple vampire flick with a twist. Easy to achieve. Now Blade 3.... eh... Hopes and expectations are low.
Spiderman achieved it's glory because it waited for the technology to catch up with the "mutations"
Spiderman 2 was excellent and has raised the bar as far as Superhero Epics go... Batman has a lot of acrobats to do to reach that bar.

Considering Superman was made in 1978 I wouldn't put so much weight on special effects hindering movies like The Punisher and Captain America. Those were poor marketing decisions at work, and apparently continue to be poor, considering the new Punisher movie from just a few months ago.
Superman 1 and 2 remain at the top of my comic book movie list. I put Spider-man 1 and 2 below them, perhaps with Spider-man 2 over Superman.
The newest Batman has a chance. They're starting over, erasing the Schumacher disasters that killed Burton's initial vision (which was decent, but I really can't stand the whole "I have no neck and must turn my whole body to look around" thing). They're starting again with a blend of Batman: Year One and the 70s Neal Adams Batman: The Detective, with one of the greatest villains ever invented: Ras Al-Guhl.
Blade has always been a fun run. Hell, Blade 2 was better than Blade 1. You never know, the third may still be enjoyable.

i hated the 1st spiderman (mainly cuz kirsten dunst looks odd and i would have rather seen jim camerons version come to life), have yet to see the second and will probably wait till it comes out on dvd. the punisher was ok, coulda been better, they mixed too many stories together. X2, superman 2, batman, the blade series, dark city and the crow are all in my greatest comic book movie category.
i could see jason lee and jason mewes as booster and blue beetle. HA

Batman still won't be able to move his head as if he has a neck....
there are a lot of negatives heading into the latest Batman.
First... they are trying SOOOOO Hard and have too many "players" in the cast. could be a problem. Hopefully it will be good.
I TRUELY HOPE THAT YOU DESPISED THAT BATMANvsPREDATORvsALIEN CRAP SHORT POOPFEST.
Anyhow... Superman was a great Film...
Spiderman 1&2 are better.
I liked Blade 2 as much as if not more than 1... 3 seems to have a weak premise and is not being guided by true talent.
Crow was superb, again it was not Mutant, so the technology in film was not needed. Great adaptation.
Green Lantern would be best INTRODUCED in a Justice League Film. Now THAT would be great. Or EVEN A FREAKIN TEEN TITANS MOVIE.
I've been involved in so many comic book films it's become a specialty.
Oh I have to mention Daredevil... I liked it... They ended it like a comic book... villians don't die.
Fantastic Four is headed our way, too bad they always change the history. A brief history... HULK, IRON MAN, REED RICHARDS and (who else?) are Mutated due to Capturing Silver Surfer.
Would make a great film to branch off - Hulk, F4, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, etc.
Spider Man meets DareDevil Meets Punisher Vs KingPin and his Henchmen ETC
Batman will always have that tainted history now thanks to WB. The First one was "Trendy Great" But looking back... It's not what I would have wanted it to be. Then it just got fruitier!!
If only someone would option my stuff! hahaha

Green Lantern = good
Jack Black as the Green Lantern = bad
Making it a comedy = even worse

Derision, I like that...
Movies like Blade were good because there was a lot of room for stylistic detailing w/out a lot of popular background (for the character) to try and work around. Also, Blade has the advantage of Vampire lore as a popularly accepted and commercially successful background element.
Now I'm no big fan but GhostRider... That's a movie ready to be made.

Iron Fist is in pre-production....
Ray (Darth Maul/Toad) Parks is slated to play him...
Arad added that Blade: Trinity is "bigger and better" and once you see it you'll see why Blade 4 will be in the works. Then in October of this year, the studio will also release Man-Thing.
For 2005, Arad says Fantastic Four will be released in July. He mentioned they've got a great script and are now picking the right director. Elektra starts production this May, Iron Man starts production in the middle of the year for a November, 2005 release. Ghost Rider and Luke Cage are also targeted for 2005 by Sony Pictures.
Also in the works are X-Men 3 (2006), The Hulk 2 (2006), Namor (2006), The Punisher 2 (2006), Iron Fist, Black Widow and Deathlok. Namor he says is like "Star Wars underwater... a fascinating frontier". He compared it to "Jurassic Park" as something viewers have never seen before. They've got visual designs for the film already and are talking to directors for a 2006 release. The Hulk 2 will be much different than the first film. Arad referred to the sequel as the "light" version with it not being as heavy, or dramatic.
Arad added that Sony and Marvel are aiming Spider-Man 3 for 2007. Marvel is also talking about bringing Captain America and Nick Fury to the big screen.
In addition, Avi Arad said that in the years to come you'll be seeing more family and female oriented films, based on Marvel's characters, as well
Hmmmm Marvel is moving in Fast Forward.... Spidey 3 will include Green Goblin/Black Cat and Venom - Minus Secret Wars Origins....I'd expect Venom to be more or less carnage in black.

Namor... that's going to be tough. If they do keep it sword and sandals style, keeping it all underwater and an internal conflict with no reference to the modern world, that could be a fine film.
You know what adaptation I'd really like to see? more as a TV miniseries on SciFi or somesuch, would be The Books of Magic. But Harry Potter pretty much ruined that possibility.

Cap should be a guest star in someone elses movie, just to test if the audience want to see him.
nick fury would be good, any war movie will not be as hard as a mutant movie. they've got too many movies going on, man-thing? who wants to see that? deathlok um yeah.....black widow? they have used rebecca romeijn too much, who would they get to play her? blade was supposed to only be a trillogy
