ok so i fix one engine code just to get another
MK III GTI VR6 late model 96 engine code im getting is a P1582 ....any ideas :confused:

heh.
the other day my check engine light came on and went away 3 days later.
you need to remove the throttle and clean it, lube the shafts with a penetrating oil, and disconnect the ECU so the adaptations reset. Turn the key to the #2 position and let set for a minuet so the throttle will reset. total time about 20-30 min. This works very well most of the time but some times it wont work at all and you need to replace the throttle housing.
If the repair dosen't work, pin out the wiring between the ECU and the throttle and give the wires the "wiggle" test, some times they get brittle and will break inside the harness before you buy a new throttle. Not that often though.

when you say throttle im assuming you are reffering to the throttle body assembly at the intake manifold
