I remember a thread a year ago about a racetrack proposal in San Diego, but i thought it was all just planning and talk. Anyone heard anything new?

wont happen, when California Speedway was offered to San Diego by Penske Racing whom own the facility San Diego city offocials gracially said "our freeways cant handle the traffic" this was what 12 years ago - well now once small trucking town Fontana is on the map cause of the build out and has created more jobs and housing in that area in the last 5 years than what was expected....oh and for those of you that dont know California speedway is accessible by a freeway no bigger than high way 78 (number of lanes in each direction is 3)

its accessable by 2 freeways actually. You forget the 15.
Yeah, this guy had spent millions in plans and had set it up to build it in the Otay area. Last I heard from him he was still interested in building it, he just needs to get thru the city to do it. Since he doesnt see that happening, he says it wont ever be built.
WTF is up with the water park crap? Ditch that shit. Make it a full on motorsports park and be done with it.

ya you could probably put in a drag strip right by coors but there are houses there and there is a noise curfew of 11:00 pm i think - sucks for concerts

I heard about it over a year ago and talked to a couple of the suppsive owners when me and my boss were racin up at Speedworld in Pheonix. They had this huge book with their business plan and everything. It was pretty impressive. But look at it now. better be breakin ground soon I say!!!!!

Fontana was growing with or without the CA speedway, it was one of the few areas left to build houses and there were plenty already building more warehouses for shipping. The area around the race track has been getting biggger well before the race track came to be.
