I don't know if this qualifies as news to anyone here, but I just noticed that the "build your own" GTi no longer offers a VR6. I guess the MK5s must be coming soon. I really should test drive a VR6 so I have some idea of how to feel about this.

Are they planning on putting a 6-cyl in the MK5? Or is the top engine going to be the 2.0t?

I know the 3.6L from the Passat is going into the R36, but how about the "regular" Golfs?

Hard to say. The 2.8 puts out the same amount of power as the 2.0t, and since your average Joe mainly looks at HP (talkin' out of my ass here, just a guess), they might have a tought time marketing it in the U.S. Maybe a 2.8 FSI? Who knows?
