R32 spotted near the Kearny Villa Road Exit. Was a blue/purple pearl color. Spotted a FMIC in my rear view and a mesh grill...Anyone knows who's it was? He did a nice fly-by after I honked my horn and gave him the thumbs up.
If anyone knows who this is, give him a high five on his hot whip.

If it's the one I've seen at Qualcomm, then it's very quick... like 11 second 1/4 mile pass quick.

Jeremy. He's got the only SCd FMIC R32 in San Diego. His car was also in that Lindsey Lohan/Herbie movie.
Puts down 301whp... not shabby!

Does he run at Qualcomm? I never talked to the guy and only saw him run once, but I could have swore it was T'd. Maybe I saw another R—I could be mistaken (hell, I don't even know the difference between a 1/8 and a 1/4 mile track).

There's the owner's son of Bob Baker, has a silver R32 with Vortex charger

Oops, forgot about him.
I'm usually the only blue R32 that runs at the Q, and there's usually a silver one and a black one too. If Jeremy has run his there, it hasn't been in many months.

I wanna know how you get that smogged? I would love to do that to my 2.8

VF sc kits are CARB certification pending... will be completely legal soon.
New cars don't need to be smogged for 4 years, so unless you get ticketed while racing, it's unlikely you'll need to worry about it for awhile.

I have been hearing that for years now. A friend of mine is a VF dealer in Canada and I am constantly busting his chops because of the "certification pending" statement he constantly feeds me. ;)
On a side note, I heard that there is an R32 test mule running the VF cogged belt setup w/ 18psi and it put down +/- 500whp  If this is in fact true, and VF does get CARB approval for this kit, I would seriously consider going into debt for those sort of numbers.

Yeah, their "stage 4" car is putting down some amazing numbers.
I fully plan to wait til my factory warranty expires before I do a SC kit, so I've got some time to wait and see when the CARB cert is approved. It's not a quick process.

LOL, we've been hearing it for years too. Got stg1 on our 24V when it first came out. Finally getting her running with stg2 this weekend, after having it sit in the garage for 6 months. I know the CARB cert takes time, but we bug Nik and Jeff about it whenever we get the chance. :p
Worst case, when she's finally due for smog, is to spend a weekend uninstalling the kit, smog it, and reinstall. I've had this GTI torn apart enough that it wouldn't really be that bad. Just a pain to have to do.
Overall, the fit and finish of the VF kits are awesome. We've had our share of problems, but they've always been there to help out via phone and email. It helps that UPS ground from LA is next day too.
The belt slip issues are fixed with stg2 thanks to the additional pulley. Their documentation is still crap. I went to install Stg1, and half of the document was 12V specific. The 24V stuff that was there, was incomplete at best. Lots of trial and error fun. The only problem that remains is the fouled MAFs that everyone keeps going through like they're candy, thanks to the oil running down from the CV connection. The catch can they came up with is a joke. I'm going to do my best to come up with my own solution for that. Problem is finding a good catch can with large enough fittings.

After the hell we went through on a Lemon Law of our 2001 GTI, we decided when we got the 2003 that they could take their factory warranty and shove it. Our warranty was essentially void within 6 months. It's never been back to dealer except for the coil pack recall. ;)

My friend claims to have seen a blue R32 at a light here in Bonita, with blowoff sounds, a visible NOS bottle, and pulling an AWD burnout when the light went green. Im not so sure how reputable this sighting is though.
