    The History of SoCalEuro

So I was really busy at work and started to wonder about Socaleuro.com. Who started the web sight??? I know that Nefarious is the old man of the sight but???? Is he O.G.??? And on another note there is a date gap of three years between Nefarious and Bugsy. Nefarious 6-12-1999 Bugsy and 18 others have a date of 5-13-2002.

Kind of made me wonder. Is anyone else courious now?????

sce.com started as Socal Audi&VW a while back ago. Lon is the so-called "founding father." back then there was about 50 of us that were active on the site and we had g2g's and meets all the time. the site went through a renovation (while still remaining socalaudi.com and socalivw.com). then the site went through a name change (socaleuro.com) and members needed to migrate over to a new server afterward....so the old members lost postcounts and join dates, etc.

of the so-called "og" group from the site's very beginning there are a few of us left (manny, craig, myself, lon, paul, tony, dan&tracy, alan&thewife, ed, et al.)....but not as many as there used to be. IIRC, Jason did not become an active member until the migration to sce.com.....(though i may be wrong about that)

I remember seeing everyone on Azian looking for other euro people.

I didn't show up until socalaudivw was around and I went to one GTG and just kept driving. Manny looks pretty scary and I was driving a TT. The second GTG I went to at Tea Station was when I stopped to see what was up.

There was a big irvine GTG that really got me hooked on the site.

A bunch of us, Manny, Myself, Jason Dye, etc all met at AutoX. We were actually starting to hang out a little before socal was around. I knew Lon from his Azian.com web site. There used to be old skool gtg's at Krispy Kreme and Oscars way back and as Lon started socal, us regulars were the first and og members of the site. Initially, the site didn't really take off and was very much a small group of people who all new each other. Things have changed a lot. I'm sure there is lots of details I missed, but you get the gist of it.

I think the "old man of the site" honor goes to Manny. Eric and Net are OG as well.

Tracy (Greenwing) and I lurked for about 6 months after the site started before we joined in. (Didn't know if we'd be buying another veedub - long story) Still have our 4 rings +1 t-shirts, sweatshirts, and stickers.

Oh, and as for Jason (Nefarious), I believe Lon knew him from partying first. Jason was a Norcal person and Robin was from San Diego. We all met them a couple of years ago at a car show at Coors Amphitheatre, and again when Robin and Jason moved down here.

So then socaleuro.com started 5-13-2002??? How long were the other two web sights around??? I am guessing 1999 Because of Jasons date.

You can't really pay attention to my date as I've changed it a few times. At one point it said 1969. I've been around since end of '01. Not OG but old enough to remember most of the iterations of this site including socalvw.com (I even have the OG decals and sweatshirt to prove it). The others above have pretty much detailed who the OG's are. I was around on Azian.com prior to socalvw.com and was a member when socalvw started but since I was up in Norcal I just lurked here. And yes, I've known Lon since '98/'99 time frame.

I remember when the gtg's were only about 15 people max at Krispy Kreme on Clairemont Mesa. Back farting and fire breathing Dan was the best.

I know I've been around for awhile. I met Paul through autocrossing and audiworld.com and he told me about it shortly after Lon started it up. My first GTG was at Tea Station back when I still lived in PB. Man, that was years ago.

I showed up May/June 2002. The decals on the car still say SoCaliVW.com.

I remember the first time I saw you guys at that bowling night at Clairmont bowl...pure comedy!

It was a little wet...we had some fun spinning tires.

    Back farting was great.....fireballs...etc.

SoCal has been here...been there....and everywhere in between.

Back before Julian runs...before socaleuro.com.....before electricity and daylight.

I think this website has seen me through 2 relationships...with a two year gap between them. Good people....good times.

LMAO! Yeah, we had some "interesting" first impressions. Donnie and Marco chucking bowling balls down the lane, Marco getting a free sundae from Denny's, etc. That was back when the GTI was completely stock. Oh, and I still had the techie geek mullet thing going on. Shortly after that was the first NorCal vs. SoCal, when we got our first taste of the drama that crops up occasionally. haha. Good times, good times.

KK was the main spot to meet at, but we mixed it up a bit. My favorite memory from KK was from the arrogant member we dubbed TUCSON, (with MK4 black Jetta 1.8t) who swore he took the EVO or at least kept up with it on the fwy. Spreading the salt all over his car was hilarious, you had to be there.....

    Hi everybody,
well it has been a while since I have seen any of you guys in person and I was only at one meeting about 1 1/2 years ago ( I think it was at Clairmont mesa blvd.??).
I don't remember all the people I met but I do remember GTI-Girl, her friend ( hopefully still is )and bugzy.....nice people.
I was the guy which hardly spoke any english at that time ( came from Germany) and drove a black 1989 Golf GTI 16V. I still have the car it just got a VR6 in it and i am getting close to finish this project. (took me a while ).
Anyhow i was wondering if anyone does remember the meeting with the HUGE Spider sitting on one of the cars ( I think it was a blue golf).
