ECU swap question
Ok, I have a 1999.5 MKIV 2.0 and I am looking to swap my ecu with someone that has a 2001 MKIV 2.0 . My question is, can this be done since the cars are different years, both motors are AEG's. If this would work, what would I have to do to get my key to work with the different ECU? Someone told me that I would have to use a scan tool to reflash the key?? If anyone can show me the light on this subject, please let me know. Thanks

Re: ECU swap question
I can't tell you for sure if they are compatible ...
but, you WILL need your SKC (secret key code) for your car and the SKC for other guy's car to initiate an adaptation for the ECU (if it can even be done on an ECU that's already been adapted to a car). If you don't have the SKC for either car already, sorry, but good luck getting it now. Dealers can't help you anymore and the way to get it is a bit difficult.
But I gotta ask, why swap?

Re: ECU swap question
im buying his neuspeed charger and i either need my ECU to be flashed with neuspeeds SC software ($339), or swap mine out for his already flashed ECU.
