Congrats. Your photography seems to be taking off in a big way. Things look to be on the up and up for Wicked Photos. Keep up the good work.![]()
Way to go Chris! I hope they paid you.
Congrats Chris!
Thanks Guys/GalsNo, I didn't get paid for those. I sent them a CD of pictures just in the hopes that they'll publish them. I do however get paid for most of my other shoots unless I'm hooking up a friend. I still consider myself an amateur and very new to photography. I just like taking pictures, so the money right now is just a bonus
I guess I'm amateur-semi-professional, if their is such a status, since I'm new, have now been published and make money with my photography..haha.

Congrats Chris!! I would consider a great majority of your pics to be of prof. quality. pimp by blood not re-la-tion. haha
Congrats! But why did you do a photo shoot at a Mitsu/Subie dealership?![]()

don't give your photos away for free ever again
Import Tuner doesn't give out free ads. So you shouldn't give them free content. When you give away free photos, it drives the 'going rate' of photos down for other photographers who make a living from it. Import Tuner knows what those photos are worth, and so should you.

My signature was so old it broke all the rules :drama:
I don't send them anything that they can use right off the bat. I send them web resolution and usually watermarked photos as well, with 5-10 shots. If they like them, they can contact me and we can discuss details. I set the price and details (how many photos, etc) before I even give them 1 high res photo. Of course, I will give them more than they need to choose from, but depending on the client and my history with them, I may either link them to a web gallery of proofed images to select which ones they want, or if I have a stronger history, i'll send them 20-30 high res images and let them pick the 15-20 that they want to run.
If you ever have questions about this kind of stuff, feel free to hit me up, either on here or AIM or email. I don't mind helping people like you who are getting started in the industry.
also, www.automotivephoto.net is a GREAT resource for things like this.

Dude, sweet Chris!!!
congrats chris!!! You definently do have some absolutely great photos!
This IS clean...
compared to the other day i ran it through the mud....
100% agree.
That's a 1/2 page photo in a magazine with a monthly circulation of ~ 90k issues. They charge $8k for a 4 color 1/2 page ad.
Amateur or not, don't EVER give your photos away.
If you gave them a CD with full rights, you no longer own that photo. In the future, you should only provide a usage license, not full ownership.
*Bump*
Chris - came across this link in one of the photo forums i frequent...

Thought you might be interested to see what other photographers think about 'working' for free...
I know you're out and about, but this is just so I don't lose the link before you get back.
