try Banana Republic outlet or Macy's or Robinson's May in the sale sections
they got dress shirts at reasonable prices on sale

Wait for a sale at Macy's and hit the discount racks. They usually have a rack of dress shirts that are marked down far below the normal discounts...returned stuff with no packaging, etc. You can get good $30-$40 dress shirts for like $10. Macy's has a sale about every other week. If you know someone that works there, pick out your stuff and have them buy it and get their discount on top of the sale price.

ive bought a grip of stuff from them around $12-20/shirt ... all name brands

I go to Ross for dress shirts ($10-15) and JC Penny for slacks ($20-30). Don't forget to get you slacks hemmed properly at your local dry cleaner/tailor ($5). Save your money for the big stuff that will last you for years like a nice watch, belt and shoes. For color combos, hit up the magazine rack at barnes and noble and thumb through GQ and business type magazines.
