VW puts wheels in motion on pick-ups

VW puts wheels in motion on pick-ups

Volkswagen is considering developing a pick-up truck as it seeks to boost global sales and challenge the growing power of Japan’s Toyota.

VW also plans to develop a “family of small vehicles” akin to the original Beetle in price and design and geared toward urban and emerging-markets buyers, Martin Winterkorn, its chief executive told the Financial Times.

and we wont see them here in the US at all... I've also over heard this is 1 of 12 new vehicles slated to come from VW with in the next couple of years.

    You mean this one?

I don't think so... you can't mount a 5th-wheel in it for towing. And if Touaregs are able to tow a 747, they can tow anything.

I've seen a few of those on the freeway here in San Diego. In Mexico it's called a Pointer pickup, not to be confused with the Pointer sedan. A very cheap and cheap-looking vehicle that could never be sold in the US. I doubt VW de Mexico sells that many, when there are better small pickups from the Japanese companies.

I'd rock one of those. Nothing beats a German Pickup.
